Do you have any thoughts on Algorand? Their team seems really solid. Plus I'm earning 6% from staking. Currently up about 70% in the last month with avg cost basis.

Thanks for sharing! The predictions for this year are out of this world. Would love it if they come true, but I really question how Poppe came up with these numbers. I took his predictions and translated them into marketcaps and what these cryptos would need to do in less than a year for his prediction to come true: BTC -> ~6.5 Trillion = Become bigger than Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon combined! ETH -> ~1.5 Trillion = Become Amazon. DOT -> ~250 Billion = Become Paypal. Link -> ~250 Billion = Become Paypal. ADA -> ~500 Billion = That's ~50x! Basically become today's Bitcoin. I think bitcoin can be bigger than ~6 Trillion, but for that to happen in less than a year?! That would be crazy. Also, his predictions for alt coins are hilarious. ADA to become today's Bitcoin by the end of the year?! Their mainnet isn't even a year old. Seems like Poppe is just throwing out numbers on to a wall. InvestAnswers, I bet you and I can come up with a way better prediction model than this guy.

Hey Michael, I'm not sure InvestAnswers has an opinion on Altcoins. Based on his crypto portfolio, he seems to mostly interested in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and traditional assets that focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum. For what it's worth, I can give my, not investment advice, thoughts on Algorand having researched it and considered it for my portfolio: Really impressive tech in terms of scalability and innovation in the proof of stake dapp space. It's in direct competition with Ethereum though and it would need to take down Ethereum to be viable in the long run. That's both a tall order and a crowded lane to be in. If I'm invested in Algorand, I would keep an eye on what applications are being built on top of it and how successful they are. That will determine the success of Algorand.

If ziliqa went to 5 dollars and ADA to 10 then the market cap would probably need to be over 5 trillion dollars those predictions are much too generous

At least one person posted some "This you?" type tweets of his from last year, predicting unheard of altcoins would go from cents to $20 an so on, which didn't go anywhere/went down. Anyone can make/copy high eth/btc predictions from people who've already made them in that range, and be ballpark right. Otherwise, I can see polkadot doing "very well" as it already has, but $250+ is a long way off. Cardano might do well. Etc. I have small bags of each of those, if they go to $100 dot / $5ada... Cool! If they don't, well, I don't really mind. Also I think the sleeper larger cap altcoin that bizarrely literally nobody talks about is Algorand. ROI since I grabbed a bag on Christmas is 100%, and it's proof of stake, at ~7.8pa, with extremely low transaction fees, and extremely rapid settlements (so my ROI is actually >100% as it's made some more of itself). It was founded by a Professor of Cryptography at MIT, and the first/only sovereign cryptocurrency (Marshall Islands Sov) is built on Algo... Etc... So to me it seems like Eth/Dot/ADA but with the creases ironed out already. (...Although to be fair, it's only the second-best performing in my portfolio, behind Doge :D ... Which I traded most of near the top for Algo.)

How much research can/should you do on the coins beyond BTC/ETH? I am inclined to take a small % of my investment in BTC/ETH and put 1% each on DOT/LINK/ADA/THETA/VGX. Does technical analysis mean that much for ALT-Coins?

I will not claim I study the others deeply but if I were to place a VERY small bet I would bet on Polkadot and Cardano.

Do you think it is best to wait until they break to a new high, in price discovery, to buy. A VERY small bet is 1% (or less than that)?

If I look at these predictions, I think it makes no sense the invest in anything other than bitcoin. The risk reward on these alt coins does not seem to be that good, to take that additional risk. It would all depend on the timing of these pumps, if they do not pump simulatinously you can make some serious gains.

If he's right on ZIL, that would be 65-90x from here. ZIL's a solid project too. Not saying I think he's right, but I do have some ZIL.

Imo Zil has a good chance of outperforming returns in btc and eth in the next five years, by a factor of 3x if not more. Eth is an Alpha stage project, according to Lyn Alden; and as a software engineer who's worked with the Ethereum blockchain I have to agree with her. Zilliqa is Chrome compared to Eth's Netscape Navigator. Metcalfe's law, following Raoal Pal's adoption cycle analysis of Ethereum, should hold to Zilliqa as well, as it's adoption is also increasing.

Anyone here heard of Decred, I have been hearing lot of good things about this coin and how it is a BTC but a more improved version. Similar Supply and other features. What do you guys think about it IA?
