The study looked at how the number of steps people take each day is linked to their risk of dying from any cause and getting cardiovascular disease (CVD), no matter how much they sit.

It analyzed data from the UK Biobank, focusing on how daily steps affect the chance of death and CVD.

Finding the best number of daily steps for lowering death risk was between 9,000 and 10,500 steps, whether people sat a lot or a little.

The lowest risk for CVD was around 9,700 to 9,800 steps a day, with a bit lower risk for those who sat less.

Taking more than 2,200 steps a day helped lower the risk of death and CVD, regardless of sitting time.

The study suggests aiming for 9,000-10,500 steps a day to reduce mortality risk and emphasizes the importance of moving more, especially for very sedentary people, to cut down mortality and CVD risk.
