"Real" Sega Genesis / Megadrive EDM album hits Bandcamp (Patreon)
Content
My soundtrack to "Where's My Mommy?" (steam) is now finally available in "album form" as Biteration I: Genesis of Consequence. You can stream or purchase it on bandcamp at https://inversephase.bandcamp.com/album/biteration-i-genesis-of-consequence and I have enabled a preorder for the physical album. Even though the physical album won't ship for awhile, it will be pretty awesome once it does as it will be a cartridge that plays in a real Sega console.
Another reason for the title is an ordeal recently about "DJ Sonikku" and his comments on how "nobody has implemented Sega sounds into contemporary music", which recently sparked drama in the chiptune scene. There are numerous artists writing music using Sega Genesis / Megadrive sounds, and indeed, writing on the system. I thought it might be a good idea to bring this (my) album to the forefront and make a big deal about it, because it attempts to accomplish on-console what this Sonikku guy was doing only via samples in a DAW (that is, chipmusic you could play in a club). This is not to discount the countless other artists that are also writing club-worthy chiptunes; there are some amazing FM albums out there and I encourage folks to seek them out. Now that I feel more comfortable with FM, I will probably also be releasing more FM work in the future, with the support of my Patrons!
