Hey, wanna talk more about Elmer Fudd's rifle?

Well, that's not the topic at hand. Here's a video commentary I put together for the Robert McKimson classic, Hot Cross Bunny. This is cribbed from a certain new streaming service, who unveiled a number of remastered Bugs Bunny cartoons that are for a certain unannounced project that'll be announced any day now. In the meantime, enjoy!

No. I absolutely do NOT want to talk about Elmer Fudd’s rifle. I’ll leave that to the maroons in the Cartoon Research Facebook group.

I was always confused about the scientist's size. He looks taller than Bugs in the beginning of the cartoon and even in the first couple shots of him and Bugs together. Did they not make a model sheet for him? That shot of the other scientists looking unamused is one of the greatest reaction images ever though!

I wrote this in my update (on my Patreon) - looking at animator drafts on productions before and after this title, this is the last known WB cartoon with animation by Tolly Kirsanoff *and* Izzy Ellis, the later of whom was an animator at the studio since the late 1930s.

Lots of great moments in this short. McKimson’s Bugs is truly underrated. Great to see that this short has been finally restored.

Those squatty McK legs on Bugs always bothered me.
