I saw this years ago, I had never even heard of BTS.it popped up on my recommendations for some reason. I remember loving it and thinking he was FINE!! I had no idea who he was. Then I found BTS 2 years ago and realized who he was! If only I has taken the time back then to dig deeper. Oh well, but he is just straight fire🔥 on this!!

Honestly, if the belt hadn't come out I would've been surprised lol 😅 *just a heads up... you will 100% need it for Do You. As much as I love Do You, you would not have survived both back to back. RM by himself is ALOT.* This is the same guy who likes to take nature hikes, lovingly tends a bonzai, babies a ridiculously adorable dog, & builds sand castles for tiny crabs on the beach. He is problematic AF 😊 💜

They couldn’t be more different, but to emphasis his range and growth, two of my favorites from RM are Joke from his first mixtape and Everythingoes from his second. You already know RM is my bias. So there is not much more I can add. I will say, in answer to one of your questions, that the guys never acknowledge that any of their work is directed towards a particular group or individual. A lot is implied by the context. This is one. that you should check with the Army that were around when this came out about. I was not, but I have heard that there is a story behind this relating to another K-Pop rapper, this time it wasn’t the underground rappers, and his Company/Agency, which was one of the “Big 3”. If you notice the flow of this, it was like he was battle rapping it out with someone (this was his response to the other rapper), hence the “hit me” at the end. Note that at that time it was rare to find a K-pop rapper who wrote their own lyrics (hence why it was the rapper and company). This is all old news, and to my understanding publicly addressed and they have no current issues with each other. Right or wrong, true or false, I make no judgment on this, but the going sentiment at that time was that K-pop rappers were trainees who didn’t make the cut as a vocalist and not “true” rappers, thus the lyrics attacking RM were not even written by the rapper and just a performance he was required to do by his company. This thought process really stands out to me in a lyric by Yoon Mi-Rae a famous female rapper in Korea, who has solo and group work with MFBTY. She is also Korean/African-American and I believe born in Texas. Anyway, the line from BuckuBucku, a collab with several artists including RM, goes: “Boss B*, self-made, you hoes just trained...”. Anyway, anyone who hasn’t heard/seen this one they should. A clip of a live performance of it is in a lot of fan videos. Ok. I got off track, but I brought this one up, because both MFBTY’s “BuckuBucku” and RM’s “Joke” were released back to back in March 2015. Just saying.

The “oh no’s” in this video had me DYING!! RM is the king of wordplay and like you said in your other reaction, “I’m in love with his Brain”. This reaction needs to go on your YT page eventually because it’s just that good!!

I love your reaction! This was my first time hearing this one, so I feel like you do! RM was given so much flack when he left the underground rap scene to become a member of a "boy band", I appreciate his comebacks--they are insane!

I LOVE RM!! 💜I'm relatively a new army and all I've read about this song is that it's called Joke because he was focused on his flow and not on a meaning behind the song, that he was sort of playing with it. But it's good to confirm with more knowledgeable ARMYs.

Also, Joke is an interesting reflection of what his mind was going through at the time. Imagine being faced with all that hate and criticisms, and being super polite and graceful on camera, but bottling up all of that angst and anger, and putting it all into this song. Man, he mush have been hella mad for real.

the sheer number of false starts had me DYING😂 and i completely understand every wheeze, shriek, collapse, and "oh no" in this reaction, because that was 100% me the first time i watched it. i replayed the video so many times just trying to get my head around it - the beat changes, the flow changes, the elasticity of his voice, his breath control, the LYRICS... i'm struggling along at the very very beginning basic level of trying to learn korean right now, and it's given me a whole new appreciation for the way he's able to play with words and utilize double-meaning sliding between korean and english. the korean and english in my brain are a couple of lunatics constantly fighting each other, but namjoon makes them dance to the music lol
