no ones doing cosplays like seb. excited to relive it since i remember watching as a kid but don’t remember much of the storyline lol

This film was my prepubescent introduction to Keira Knightley AND Orlando Bloom 🤩🤩 (aside from Legolas lol) ***The musical composition in this slaps harder than Will Smith (too soon? 🤭🤪)

Jeff Cabrera

*Also the start of my “parley” phase (tried very hard to work that term into normal conversation 🙈😂)

I remember Will Turner being my first ever celebrity/character crush. What a honey

Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is just absolutely iconic! Honestly I think th fourth and fifth movie don't get the credit they deserve, they are not at all bad, they're just different from the first three. The humor in the fourth one is especially good imo. I'd definitely suggest that you sit down and do the fourth and fifth as you normally would with any film, and then if you feel like it's not gripping you or won't be worth the reaction, you can always just stop and scrap it. That's just my thinking anyway. Also, gotta sorta appreciate the irony of Elizabeth's dad being the High SPARROW on GoT :P

Ana Mendes

Will Turner or Jack Sparrow? Why not both? 👀 But I have to admit Orlando Bloom was my first celebrity crush. The older I got though, the more I appreciated Johnny Depp. My favourite in this series is the next one, Dead Man’s Chest. Davy Jones is such a great villain, and the cgi on him is phenomenal. It still holds up to this day.

Ruby

Team Sparrow here. Although Turner is a very close second.

You asked what I liked most about the films? Probably the fact that companies/investors didn't think anyone would be interested in seeing movies about pirates. It went on to make $4.5 billion dollars.

Inhuman Paradox

It really does. It's astounding how some of this mid-2000s CG looks way better than the CG we get from modern Marvel movies (Black Widow in particular had some abysmal CG).

Jacob Jones

lol I feel like this just isn't your vibe which is funny cause it won the poll and there's two on the way. I loved this first one so much back in the day Ive seen it too many times now to really watch i like a movie, the other two not so much. Im personally just waiting for twilight!

This franchise is super nostalgic for me; the combination of action, adventure, love, deception... it all comes together to make such an iconic film. Also as a kid it was so cool to have Keira Knightley as a female in film to look up to. Ngl though I shipped Will and Elizabeth so hard as a kid that I was genuinely weirded out at first when I found out he was married to Katy Perry haha

Shadowcat

You wouldn't know, being from England (unless you've been to Disneyland Paris), but there are so many little pieces of this movie that come straight from the original Disneyland ride. My grandparents lived in LA, and as a kid, I went to Disneyland a fair amount, and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is a favorite. It's not a roller coaster; you're in a boat and you float through these caverns where animatronic figures play out various scenes of pirates doing pirate stuff. You do go down a couple of small waterfall drops, and there's some "cannon fire" that splashes near the boat as you pass by and they simulate a big battle between pirates and the Navy. After spending hours running around the park and riding all the roller coasters, Pirates is a really great ride to go on to get out of the sun, chill for 15m (plus the wait in line), and have fun looking at the animatronics. It's a whole vibe. When this movie came out, I had extremely low expectations because I couldn't imagine what they would make based off of a cool, but pretty simple ride, and I was completely blown away by how awesome the movie was. They took bits right out of the ride too! The pirates in jail who are trying to coax the dog with the keys to come closer is straight from the ride, and a bunch of other stuff too, especially the stuff that's happening in the background when Jack and Will first arrive in Tortuga. Plus, the song that Elizabeth sings in the beginning and then teaches to Jack when they're on the island plays while you're floating through the caverns. Anyway, all this to say, this movie holds a special place in my heart. It's one of my all-time favorites. I think no one else could have played Jack the way Johnny did. His whole entrance was just iconic, from the majestic sight of him on the mast, to panning back and realizing he's on a little, bitty boat, not a huge pirate ship, to him stepping off of the mast on to the dock right as his boat finally sinks all the way. What a way to introduce a character! Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa) was given lines that could have been so cheesy, but he pulled them off with flair and panache. I just love every bit of this movie - the humor, the plot, the characters, and holy cow, let's not forget about that soundtrack! Well, I've typed a novel here, so let's just say, I'm super excited that this one won the poll and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

orlando bloom was definitely my crush as a young teenager. I loved pirates of the carribbean, it was the first franchise (except harry potter) that I looked forward to every film. I only count 1-3 as the main films though

team Orlando and as i grew older team both😂 i would suggest to watch the 4th one it’s not like the first three but i like it ( maybe cause Sam Claflin is in it) *also imo 2,3 are the best!!

also disney+ hack if you drag it along to the post credits instead of clicking directly on the time stamp that tends to work so it doesn't exit full screen!

Kevin

Gotta say.. wasn't my personal choice for your next series.. but after watching the watch-along I was instantly reminded how fun these movies were, especially after not seeing them again for the past 5-10 years lol.

Loved this reaction! I personally love all first three films, but something about at World’s End for me. It was so epic when it came out, it felt like a conclusion to the first two. The film had so many Easter eggs from the ride at Disneyland and were fun to point out. Such an immersive world and with the music you just feel like you’re there part of the crew. It was nostalgic rewatching it with you and I can’t wait to see your reactions to the next films to come. 💕 #teamJackSparrow

I was never on one team or the other. I knew I was going to love Orlando Bloom bc I was *obsessed* during LOTR, but when Jack came on screen I was sold. In the end, I just ended up being siked we go both of them bc whewwwee. The second film is so good, too. The first will always be iconic, but I think the second is my favorite. Really all three of the OG trilogy are amazing, I'm thrilled you're watching these!!! Very fun time.
