Book 2. Feels good to say that and why the hell is this 50x better than series 1?? No idea how but this just felt like the best episode so far and I am all here for it. 

SO much happened this episode and I am so hyped to get through this season :)

top-knots are a sign of royalty/high status. zuko & iroh cutting their hair symbolizes finally detaching themselves from their family/homeland and losing that status (: so excited to see more!

Like Zuko said, Azula is a fire bending prodigy. She's more advanced than Zuko which is why she can already bend lightening. It's an advanced form of fire bending.

Earth kingdom trying to get Aang to have maca root tea this episode 👀 All the shows at once turning to their better episodes for you 😁 I do love Iroh, he is definitely a competitor for my favourite character of the whole show

Loved the reaction. As to your question at the end, I've always seen it as you've had season 1 to get a dip into the characters and the world. The audience understands the stakes and the basic power system really well, even if it took its time along the way. Now the show is done playing around and these characters are grappling with an all-out war in a way that didn't really happen until the end of season 1. As you said, season 1 set the stage, and imo it did a near-perfect job. After some breathing room to get everyone to that point, the story progresses, more rapidly as you have those roots that everything builds from.

if you look back at the episode with the storm where we get both Aang and Zuko’s backstories, we get our first onscreen glimpse of Azula as she’s in the audience with Uncle Iroh watching the Agni Kai 😏

Idk if it's ever mentioned in the series but Azula is only 14 years old, her character has so much depth wich is why she's one of my favorites

Yeah! Season 1 its good. Season 2 its Great!! It starts to pickup and develop new characters. Like Azula! She is a beast. Very Powerful..!!! No joke best villain! Crazy fighting skills. But this season its alomost perfect. You gonna LOVE it. 💯 the season 3 JUST AWESOME!!!!! With a great ending. and seeing how u are when it comes to emotional parts, you will def see that moving forward. It's literally da best show

Season one, each episode was more stand alone story wise, which is why season one was rerun a lot on tv. Season two and three were definitely more plot-based as you said, and the creators made the episodes tie together a lot more with a stronger overarching goal and storyline. Plus (no spoilers) the characters added in season two are top tier and the creators just further build upon all the characters we’ve come to know and love in season one :)
