We messed up. We're sorry, and we're not rolling out the fees change. - The Patreon Blog

Creators and Patrons, We've heard you loud and clear. We're not going to rollout the changes to our payments system that we announced last week.

Better late than never, I guess. I'd waited til this week before starting to cancel pledges, now I gotta go back and reinstate a few.

I'm glad that I've only got you, Sabrina and two others that I'm a patron of. I could have afforded the new fees but I wouldn't have been able to be a patron of two others I've been planning on patronizing. Now, in a couple of months, I'll be able to do that. Whew!

I burned down half my pledge list already, which had lots of $1-2 pledges and would have been inflated mightily by the changes. But I think it was necessary that a lot of us started cancelling because it proved we were serious. Clearly they still want to change something to "fix the problems" but at least now we have a chance of getting them to implement a reasonable solution instead of the steaming pile that they started with.

May i still keep the change i made? ($5 1/month but selecting $1 reward) they are probably going to move those fees on creators by raising the share they take so this should lessen it.

You're in control of your own pledge, so do whatever you feel is best. I suspect the Patreon fees will work their way back in sooner or later, but probably more subtle next time, with smaller increases over a longer period of time. (just a guess)

You might want to look into Sponsus. They're not quite ready for primetime yet, but the team that supports Leonard French created it because of what Patreon announced what they did, then backtracked it. They did announce they would accept artists who do NSFW stuff (but not illegal stuff, of course).
