With the ring of the bell, the students were relinquished to head to lunch. Lilly hummed as she begun getting ready for Hisao to come up to her room. She listened to her students leaving the room. The married couple normally met up for the lunch hour to enjoy some tea to go with their lunch, which is why Lilly had her own tea set stored in her class.

After a moment though, she heard someone approach and cough slightly to get her attention, and she turned to face them.

“Umm, Lilly?”

It was Rai, and she seemed a bit… cautious?

“Yes Rai?” She asked. “Is there anything I can do for you?”

“Umm…” Rai slowly spoke, almost nervously. She almost reminded Lilly of Hanako sometimes, and she smiled patiently knowing that if she waited then Rai would come and say it herself.

“I was wondering…” Lilly could hear her gulp. “I was wondering what you were doing for lunch?”

“Ahh,” Lilly responded, now understanding what this was about. “Normally, my husband, Hisao, brings lunch for us up here and we share a cup of tea. Would you like to join us?” Lilly knew that Rai must not have anyone to eat lunch with, and after this morning she could afford her at least the courtesy of company.

“I would love to!” Rai said happily. “Umm, I have to go and grab my lunch from the teachers’ lounge, is that okay?”

‘Ever so hesitant,’ Lilly thought with a smile. “Of course.” She said.

“Great! I’ll be right back!”

And with that, Rai took off out of the room. Lilly chuckled to herself, the girl certainly had a hidden energetic side to her. Lilly found it kind of charming.

She returned to setting up the tea set when a thought occurred to her.

I should have told her to tell Hisao not to grab me a big lunch...’ she thought to herself. As hungry as she was earlier, she finally felt like both her meals had settled and was moderately filled already.

Hisao exited the lunch room in a fantastic mood. Class had gone well, but that was honestly not even on his mind. What was on his mind was the large tray of food he carried from the cafeteria.

For himself, he had grabbed a plate of sashimi that looked extremely appetizing, as well as a side of rice. Even this wasn’t what he was happy about, and he slightly chuckled at his own cleverness as he looked back down at what he had grabbed for his wife.

Hisao had, in a split second decision, decided to grab an “American” lunch for Lilly. Taking up a majority of the tray was two large slices of pizza that was topped with teriyaki chicken, pineapple, and onion. The cafeteria lady swore by it that it would be delicious, and gave him some French fries to go with it. He confided his plan to the worker, and she suggested he take a bottle of soda, an America drink called Pepsi that they often drank with pizza. He decided to top it all off with a cupcake. Although to be sure nowhere near as good as the ones Lilly has made fresh, he figured she would still appreciate the treat. He knew she was probably famished, and walked with a sense of pride that he took care of his wife so well.

Hisao arrived at the elevator and it opened after a moment of waiting. As he entered and pressed the large number 4, he heard a voice call out, “Hold the door, please!”

Hisao stuck his foot out as the door was closing and they re-opened and a small young girl entered the elevator.

“Umm, excuse me Ms, but shouldn’t you be having lunch in the cafeteria?”

The girl blushed almost as red as her hair

“You’re Mr. Nakai, right? I’m Rai, one of Lilly’s student-teacher’s…”

Hisao felt the familiar sensation of him putting his foot in his mouth while kicking himself with the other.

“Oh! I’m so sorry! We’ve even met before, right?”

“Y-yes, but it was only for a moment, so it’s okay if you don’t remember.”

“Ahh, sorry. I can be really bad with faces sometimes.”

“It’s okay. Lilly actually invited me to lunch with you both today.”

That sounded a lot like Lilly, the woman was willing to share a cup of tea with anyone who would have it.

He smiled, “Well you must be good company then! I’ll definitely remember you from now on haha.”

‘Don’t let it be awkward, don’t let it be awkward, it’s only awkward if you let it be awkward.’

Rai seemed to be okay though, and the rest of the elevator ride passed in a comfortable silence.

Hisao was happy that Lilly was still able to attract all those around her. He was glad that she could make friends, especially those at work.

‘She has a bit of gravity to her,’ Hisao thought.

Then, smiling at the irony of the thought, they exited the elevator.

As Lilly was pouring the tea, her finely tuned nose picked up the distinct smell of pizza. It was a meal that she had not often had, but she knew it well enough to pick it up.

Slightly pleased that her stomach didn’t growl at the smell of the food, Lilly finished pouring the tea.

However, a sense of dread quickly overcame her, as she hoped that Hisao hadn’t grab her too much to eat…

‘Oh who am I kidding,’ she thought to herself. ‘He doesn’t do anything without fully committing.’

She heard the noise of Lilly and Rai enter, picked up the tray to bring it to the table, and turned to greet them.

Hisao was still amazed at this new sense of attraction he felt towards his wife. He looked at the small double chin that she has developed, how her suit jacket was pulled so tightly that there were lines from the strain.

“Hello, love.” He called to her, and a slight blush appeared on her face.

“Hello Hisao. Is Rai here as well?” She walked to the table and placed the tea set on the table and turned towards them.

As she did, Hisao could see how the white dress shirt she wore was tucked into her skirt, and how tightly it hugged her stomach, and was that… he could swear he could see the faint outline of her belly button, and that almost excited him.

He placed the food tray on the table and kissed his plump wife, “Yes, dear, she’s here.”

“Hi Lilly.”

“Hello Rai.” She responded. “Please, both of you, take a seat.”

They all sat down and Hisao passed out his a Lilly’s food. Excitedly, he explained that, because she had made an American delicacy, he figured she could have an American style lunch. When he told her of all the food, she bit her lip slightly, but said nothing. Hisao knew that meant she was worried about something… it’s probably the Pepsi, given her love for tea.

‘How am I going to possibly eat all of this?’ Lilly thought to herself. She was still full from eating before, and would normally tell her husband such but… Well, Rai was here and she wasn’t exactly comfortable with being so frank with her husband with company.

“Thank you, dear.” She said, and she squeezed his hand affectionately.

“If you’d rather not drink the pop…” Hisao started.

“No, that’s fine dear, really. I don’t think I’ve ever had soda. What is this called again?”

“Pepsi!” Hisao said, and she could hear the happiness in his voice. Lilly smiled, just happy that something so small could make him happy too.

“Well I’ll be sure to give it a try.” Lilly said.

Lilly also made a note to ask how he arrived up to the fourth floor as well, betting on the elevator and wishing to have a word about that, but that was for later.

Lilly turned her attention over to Rai, “What did you bring for lunch, Rai?”

“Oh, I just heated up some Ramen I brought from home. Basic, I know.” Rai said, with a bit of uncomfort.

“Well that certainly won’t do.” Lilly said, in part out of caring and also seeing an opportunity. “Here,” she said holding out the cupcake, “take this.”

“Oh, I couldn’t do that to you.”

“Nonsense.” Lilly responded. “I have plenty of food here, I insist you at least take this.”

“Hmmm, okay.” Rai said. She took the cupcake from Lilly’s hand. “You know, cupcakes are actually my favorite dessert. My mom used to make them for my sister and brother and I when we were little.”

“Oh, you have two siblings? What do they do?” Lilly asked. She had started on her first piece of pizza. It really was delicious, much better then what she had from some chain place.

“Well, my brother lives in Tokyo now, he’s a bit older than us at around thirty. My other sister just turned twenty-five, and she’s a writer.”

“Are you and your family close?” Lilly asked. Her thoughts turned to her own sister as well as Hanako, who was working now as a writer herself.

“Not nearly as much as I wish we were.” She said, sort of dejectedly. “These cupcakes though, they’re some of my favorites.”

“If you think these are good,” Hisao said, and Lilly could tell he had just swallowed. “You should try Lilly’s. They’re some of the best things I have ever tasted.”

Lilly felt herself blush, and was about to deny it, when Rai cut it. “I would love to try them!” she exclaimed.

Lilly’s blush deepened, and she decided she shouldn’t be so harsh about just a little elevator mishap.

“My my, well I’ll have to make them sometime soon then.” She smiled and nodded her head towards Rai.

As they continued to eat, the girls told Hisao about the cooking club they were invited to attend after school. Lilly excitedly told him that their cooking instructor was also a teacher here, and Hisao told her that he’s sure the club would be fun then given how affectionate the teacher seemed to be towards Lilly. Lilly invited him to attend as well, but he told her that he had made plans with the gym teacher to check out the new activities center and its equipment after school ended.

“We got new workout equipment?” Rai asked. “You know, for a school that seems so hesitant to hire on new teachers, we sure have a lot of new equipment. Even the cafeteria is pretty well stocked.”

“Maybe it’s just politics.” Hisao stated.

‘He must still be thinking about the position…’ Lilly knew he was upset about it, but addressing it now would only make it worse.

Lilly finished her first slice of pizza, as well as the cup of tea, and the lapse in conversation allowed her to address something she was sort of trying to ignore… how full she was. Lilly didn’t really think she could eat much more, but she reluctantly opened the soda bottle, intent on soldering on. She raised the bottle to her nose and smelled it. It smelled sweet, and she raised it to her lips and sipped on it.

The soda was delicious! The taste of it was just sublime, and it seemed to compliment the pizza perfectly. She tipped it back and took a deep drink. The soda rushed down her throat and into her stomach, forcing her to suppress a burp, and she noticed something about it that she was a bit wary about… The pop seemed to fill her as much as the pizza did.

She wouldn’t give up though, she couldn’t, and she continued on eating.

‘You were so hungry earlier,’ she mentally said to her stomach, ‘I’m going to fill you up so much that we won’t have to eat for the rest of the day. If I can finish all of that pie, I can finish this.’

Rai was actually legitimately enjoying herself. Mr. Nakai, Hisao, she reminded herself, seemed very knowledgeable and they were now talking about his class and the students in it.

“In all honesty, I don’t expect many of them will keep an accurate journal. Most people just want to relax after exercising, or they simply don’t exercise at all.” His eyes flickered at his wife, perhaps unintentionally, but Rai could see the same thing Hisao was.

Lilly Nakai was stuffing herself silly. She kept pausing for periods of time to swallow her food, and relaxed sitting back with her hand on her stomach. Her breathing was slowed as well, something that seemed would become more severe as she finished her meal. She had finally unbuttoned her suits straining jacket, and a small sigh of relief escaped from her lips as her body rushed slightly forward to fill the unrestricted space.

Rai pretended not to notice, as she was sure Hisao was, although he seemed to keep her in the corner of his eye… and if Rai didn’t know any better she’d say he was enjoying it. He seemed to smile a little wider every time he looked over at her, and once or twice placed his hand on her leg and affectionately squeezed it as he and Rai talked. Lilly had begun hic-cupping, having stifled more than a few burps.

Lilly was, for all intents and purposes, on her own in the room. She hadn’t really talked in the last few minutes, and was the only one still eating… although Hisao seemed to be enjoying the view.

Rai ate her cupcake rather quickly, and she felt a bit of affection for Lilly herself for giving her the treat as well as the enticing promise of more.

Slowly though, Lilly finally finished the meal, albeit with a little help with Hisao finishing the pop out of curiosity.

Sometime later

All good things must come to an end, and the bell rang for the group to return to the respective classrooms. Classes resumed, as normal, although Rai noticed that Lilly seemed to be doing substantially more teaching from her chair. Whenever she stood or moved around, Rai could see and hear her make small grunts of effort, and was more than willing to allow the students “time to work on their homework,” which Rai saw as an excuse to digest.

The final bell rang, and the students packed up their supplies to head out. Soon enough, Lilly and Rai were the only ones left in the room. They headed to the elevator to head down a floor to the cooking room.

As they entered the elevator, Rai asked Lilly if everything was alright, saying she looked a bit… uncomfortable.

After a slight hesitation, Lilly sighs. “Hisao is always telling me I should be more open with others… In all honesty Rai, my clothes are a bit too tight. Hisao made a mistake, and both of our wardrobes seem to have shrunk in the wash.” She smiled ruefully, “I wish I could say this is the first time that’s happened too.”

Rai exclaims that that must be awful, and that she felt bad for her… Although looking at her boss’s double chin and her apparent fleshier body, she was sure it was not all Hisao’s doing.

Lilly and Rai walked from the elevator to the cooking class, and it was already a whirl of action. Students were going back and forth from station to station setting up cooking supplies, doing prep work, and cleaning their stations. Rai looked in on the club like it was another world. Mrs. Kimura welcomed them to the room, and she told Rai that Rai and herself would personally be overseeing the students work.

“Is there anything specific you need from me?” Lilly asked. “Given the circumstances, after all, I can’t exactly watch their progress.”

Rai felt slightly bad, but Lilly seemed to pay no mind.

“Actually, you’ll be judging the finished products! But before that, I have a very important task for you, Lilly.” Mrs. Kimura assured her. “If you’ll both come with me, we will get the process underway.”
