howdy! back around 15 years ago i made a youtube video called Punch Punch Forever, i remember like it was parpin' yesterday!!

i've been working on ep 2 now, and very early prep-work for ep 3. no doubt it will be a slow process, certainly won't be seeing either of those until next year, but oh well! i'm excited to work on them nonetheless. i'm getting a bit of extra animation help going forward to make some of the more action shots look cooler, as well as speed up the process a smidge, but i'll still be doing the lions share of the work by myself. still in the thick of the animatic stage as you can see from the above clips.

writing this one was actually a fair bit harder than i thought, so that step took a bit longer than expected.
i thought episode 1 was alright as i was making it, in my head i was super excited to move on to episode 2 and beyond, because now all the story setup and character introductions was all out of the way, i could do whatever the hell i wanted to do with it.
but after putting episode 2's script/storyboard together, i started second-guessing "... wait, is this as good as ep 1 now?? i can't tell!!". though as i've settled into the animatic stage, i think i'm quite happy with it and shouldn't worry too much wether one episode will be better than the others, as long as it's fun and stupid and colorful and good vibes, i'm satisfied.

the storyboard currently amounts to about 9 minutes and some change, not including the opening or credits, so a little longer than episode 1

fittingly for the season, episode 2 has got a bit of a spooky vibe and horror-inspired opponent for Gogo! (not the crocodile above). PPF is just a melting pot of all my interests and horror movies is one of those interests, so i'm looking forward to adding those influences into the mix. don't worry, it won't be too scary though. i remember seeing 2 or 3 people genuinely wondering that because PPF has a VHS aesthetic going on, they were concerned PPF might secretly be an analog horror thing lol but no. what dark secrets belie PPF in this footage of Gogo scratching her arsecheeks...?

i'm also looking forward to just having to animate one opponent this time. the opponent of episode 1 being a whole baseball team, all wearing striped uniforms (extra annoying to animate!) was a very strange choice in retrospect but it was worth it i think!
