But first of all: SPOILER ALERT!

Last week, the third episode of Adam Savage's new show Savage Builds aired where Laura Kampf, Adam and I tricked out cars and had a post-apocalyptic demolition derby. If you haven't watched it yet and you intend to, go watch it here. Just don't scroll down, because I'm about to spoil the result of the episode.

I used to eat my mom's lipsticks when I was a kid. This is not the spoiler, and completely unrelated to the episode, but figured it might help with all this scrolling I'm putting you through.

Team Giertz won the race!

Which is pretty surprising considering what a bad driver I am. But I'll take it. And I'm pretty stoked to be able to add "Demolition Derby Award Winner" to my LinkedIn.

It was kind of surreal to watch the episode and to think that I was in the middle of radiation treatment when we filmed it. I would go to the hospital in the morning, and then head directly to set from there. And brush my teeth again as soon as I arrived, because the radiation made my mouth taste weird.

Is it all cars now?

So between Truckla and the Savage Builds episode, there has been a lot of car content around here. I promise I'm not becoming a cars-only-type of creator. But it's definitely not just about shitty robots anymore, and I have to admit that I'm pretty stoked about that. Not because I don't like shitty robots, but I just haven't been as excited about building them as I used to be.

It has actually been over a year since I made a textbook Shitty Robot Video™. And looking back, I think my health issues was what triggered the change. Because if you scroll through my video history, you can see that the last one was right before I found out about that I had a brain tumor.

Going through surgery and recovery just made me question what I was spending my time on. And my energy has been very limited ever since, so I have tried my best to only spend it on things I really want to do. And for now, that has not been shitty robots. That doesn't mean that I won't build them in the future. But it does mean that it's probably time to update my social media banners.

You are the nicest people

The thing that has surprised me most about changing the type of videos I make is that I haven't seen a single comment telling me to go back to building shitty robots. I was bracing myself to get bombarded with "ughhh, this is so off topic" and "this channel was better before" but I think I have the chillest, most tolerant audience on the internet. I can't say how grateful I am for that. I thought I was stuck in a pigeon hole but turns out it was just soggy papier mache.

Also, for now, I'm quite enjoying people yelling "HEY YOU'RE THAT TRUCK LADY" instead of "HEY YOU'RE THAT SHITTY ROBOTS GIRL" when they see me walking by.  It's just nice to have some change.

With that said...

My next project is a real non-shitty-robot-non-car-related curveball. Still have lots of editing to do together with Jackie, but it'll hopefully be up sometime in July depending on how sponsors come together. Plus I'm flying to Sweden on Saturday, so work will stall for a bit because of family time.

But before I leave...

I have some unfinished business! I asked you all to come up with slogans for Truckla, and we would send keychains made out of leftover pieces to our favorite submissions.

Here are the winners!

TAYLOR PRIDGEN: Truckla, Hauling ass with no gas.

BRETT MCAFEE: Truckla, Giertz you from A to B.

ALEXANDER REYNOLDS: It's electruck.

xPir8x: TRUCKLA: a truck butt...better.

DANIEL SHAW: Truckla, Pickup The Power

LISA SCANLON MOGOLOV: Truckla, Half the car, all the truck

KATIE KILLIAN: Truckla, Charging ahead with space in the bed.

VINITER: Truckla, Get dirty, with clean energy.

JESSICA RASMUSSEN: Truckla, Hauling the future.

The keychains are still being made, so it might be a little while before you get them. And with that said, here's an IMPORTANT CAPS-WORTHY NOTE:

Please make sure your shipping address is up to date here on Patreon. We use those to send out random gifts and notes, and unfortunately we have packages for Patreon supporters bounce almost every week because the address was incorrect. Here's how you update your shipping address!

That's all for now.

You're my favorite people. Thanks everybody who submitted slogans. I'm going to microwave this week-old comment I cooked up about your submissions. Because like most leftovers, I think it's still good and I know at least 17 of you might like it:

OK BYEEEEE

Wow! Simone, you are badass! Just watched your Mad Max Melee with Laura Kampf and Adam Savage. You perfectly envisioned the solution to the problem and coolly (yet politely) implemented a winning strategy. Your triumph brought tears of joy to my eyes. Congratulations to you and Marcos and the rest of the team! Well fought, all of you. And thanks for giving me something I can share with my stepfather, who likes working on cars and making things!
