Clearing doubts (Patreon)
Content
Hello,
After seeing some comments here and there lately I decided to speak my mind about certain aspects. Hopefully it will help clear some confusion and allow some people to look at the situation from a different perspective.
I'll start with the most common question.
No, ZoroJ did not drop the project and I didn't replace him with Narram. ZoroJ has his own life, his own problems, he wants to learn new things and focus on his own work for the time being. I understand that and I can only plead for you to do the same.
I would also like to ask for people to stop comparing Narram and ZoroJ. They both have their own style, Narram stepped in so there are still new sprites coming to the game. He's doing an amazing job, trying his best to be close to the style of the game, which alone isn't an easy task.
Constructive criticism is alright, I don't say you can't state your opinion, but take into consideration that what you say may really hurt someone and their eagerness to continue working.
Which leads me to another topic.
At the end of the day, I'm just one person. I can only do that much during one month. There are guest writers, yes, but they are working whenever they have some time and it is still additional work for me, because I need to code their part. It doesn't make my amount of content drop, because I don't let anyone else write for my characters and continue my story.
English is not my first language. Writing the whole game in it is not coming so easily for me as it could for someone else. I do want to think I made a huge progress compared to the beginning where the scenes were rather short. Still, I keep the consistency of adding 25-30k words with most updates. When creating the scenes I'm taking into consideration different options players could pick, which means you will not always see everything that I wrote. It may make the impression there is less than there actually is, but I don't want to resign from the variants because in my opinion it makes the game more interesting and for more people..
I work most days, including weekends. The game is updated regularly and during that time it only once happened that there was no update - only because I was working on redoing the whole code. No matter what was happening in my life I was always trying to provide something for you to enjoy.
I would also like to remind you that the whole project is a Work in Progress. It is stated at the beginning of the game. Not every path is completed, there are holes here and there, and it will be like that until the product is finished. Certain plots are on pause because I really want some visuals for the next important events. Knowing I have other places to continue, I move my attention elsewhere. There are plenty of people here, all of you would want something else, but it's literally not possible to give everyone what they want each month.
Don't get me wrong. I don't expect praise. This is my job and that's what I'm doing. I know the project is far from being perfect and it's full of flaws. But what I can say is that I'm doing my best.
And if my best is not good enough? Patreon is not mandatory. You can always stop supporting the project if you are unhappy with what I can deliver.
Two more pieces of information.
- There won't be any new sprites this month.
- I will most likely pause the patreon in August and take a break.
Thank you for understanding and for all the support you gave me so far.
