It is the end of June in the town of Inaba, and the Investigation Team has just rescued Rise Kujikawa from being kidnapped. They continue to look for the culprit of the serial murders that took place in town and come in contact with the "Detective Prince", the male-presenting Naoto Shirogane, who is doing her own investigation into the murders. Meanwhile, the true culprit, detective Tohru Adachi, enjoys the game of cat-and-mouse while observing the Investigation Team's actions from afar.

Naoto's investigation gains traction and she begins to appear often on television, also causing her to show up on the Midnight Channel, which draws Adachi's interest. While watching the Midnight Channel one rainy night, Adachi sees Naoto appear on the television and, curious to see what would happen, reaches a hand into the screen. To his (and Naoto's) surprise, this has the unexpected effect of pulling Adachi through the TV World and straight into Naoto's body.
