I'm usually late to these things.

I liked the meme, not really sure if it's a meme but anyways, there was this thing on Twitter where people showed where they were at the beginning of the decade to what they could make now.

I started back in 2008, and I really had no idea what I was doing at all but I was happily drawing and just drawing for fun. I never really intended to show this drawing to anyone.. I couldn't draw faces, hands, or feet because I was too intimidated, I liked big chests and arms, that's apparent and still hasn't really changed. I numbered them from when I started up until like 30 something. I think Dora was 2, buena girl was 3, can't remember what 4 was, atomic betty was 5.

2012 was kicked off by a lot of life problems but I was still drawing here and there. I had gotten my wacom tablet the year prior and was having this frustration from drawing on paper to drawing on the tablet and it slowed me down because I would get so upset that I just wouldn't draw at all. I was also struggling because I had the stereotypical problem of not being able to get what was in my head on the screen the right way. I wanted my own style but for the characters I was drawing to be recognizable from their respective shows. I was afraid to show my own characters because I thought no one would care so I just worked on them in the background and showed them every now and then. Back in this period I was using ArtRage and Photoshop. I wouldn't start using Paint Tool Sai until like 2014, I think.

2019, I would say, has seen me grow the most in my abilities. I switched from Paint Tool Sai to Paint Tool Sai 2 in November of 2018, I think. I drew more this year in sketchbooks than I have ever in my entire years of drawing. I'm a lot more mentally healthy than I've been in years, I haven't had a close call since November of 2018 and I aim to keep it that way. I work a lot these days, with overtime, which means I don't get to draw digitally as often as I'd like but still, I'm doing a lot better. I feel more comfortable drawing anatomy, faces, and other things, I have art goals I still want to reach and I hope I never stop having goals.

I hope you'll all stick around to see what I can make in this coming decade. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a happy new year!
