This movie nearly killed me. Truly day-ruining, I cut out a mental breakdown at the end. But wow, talk to me about it!

I think the movie you should watch is The Secret of My Success with a young Michael J Fox. Over powering charm and likeability. He still battles on through Parkinson's Disease. You can find it on Netflix

Jacob Colson

Ooh and The Frighteners. Plus a great documentary about MJF's career is called Still on AppleTV.

Shanelle-- I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your willingness to display vulnerability to strangers week-in and week-out. I can't begin to imagine the toll that could begin to take on someone. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I can speak for the majority of us in this group by saying we do not simply come here to fill some voyeuristic void of entertainment, but to share, from afar, important films like this we love with someone we have grown to admire and embrace as a friend. Vulnerability is so often misinterpreted for weakness, when strength, confidence and courage could never exist without its presence. Thank you for always being you.

Recently Tom Hanks said this movie wouldn't get made today with a straight actor in a gay role. You said you don't know who Howard Shore is, but that might be because his work might not be iconic as someone like John Williams. You should check out his IMDb page and I'm sure you'd be surprised how many movies you have seen and even covered on the channel. Whether you're watching a silly movie like American Pie 2 or a powerful movie like this one, your commentary is always insightful and a joy to watch.

it is absolutely disgusting that we live in a world where we need to be reminded that HUMAN FUCKING BEINGS deserve DIGNITY. i was reminded of the fact earlier this month when my work posted a bulletin reminding everyone that June is Pride month and a few of my not so esteemed colleagues had an absolute meltdown over being reminded that non heterosexual people exist!!! i hope a million people see this reaction and show a fraction of the humanity you showed here. i served in the military when the "dont ask, dont tell" policy was in affect and i can tell you that it was in no way a compromise. if you were anything other than a heterosexual and serving in the military your career and future endeavors were constantly under threat. if you were outed as gay your military career was over and you didnt get an honorable discharge and a less than honorable discharge can hurt you in the private sector. all that can start with a hug to the wrong person like what happened to a friend of mine that i served with. they hugged the wrong person and the rumor mill was churning until they were thankfully honorably discharged at the end of their contract. there is no end to the need of awareness, with this reaction, our species is a step closer. live and love to the fullest!!!

LOL those who have Pride month meltdowns -- or insist that they need "Straight Pride" it's so shocking to see how things were even just 10-15 years ago. Don't ask Don't tell was so otherworldly, and we're still not even close. I hope my children won't need to "come out." And i know this goes without saying -- but this movie WRECKED me 😂

I might agree, I would hope today we could find a gay actor to breakthrough with a role like this! Today there really is no excuse to not look. But I love the performance from Hanks, so I'm definitely glad this exists!

Agreed. This movie is so effective it's a little scary. "Streets..." should always be in your play library. But what I love most is that, if you think about it, at its most basic level, this movie is all about Love. Some of our very best movies are, and it's fascinating to me (even as it's soul crushingly sad) that so many good movies which involve homosexual topics are so very VERY good, and yet we have our current conservative backlash against it in this country. Thinking about The Bird Cage, In & Out, V for Vendetta, Thelma and Louise, Brokeback Mountain, and Philadelphia (of course) just to name a few.
