MIB is fun for what it is. We'll never mistake it for for Sorkin's writing, Cameron's directing, or anything remotely Tarentino, but with some ice cream and popcorn or yes, perogies, it's passable. Recruitment scene is my favorite from the film. Best takeaway from the script: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals, and you know it. 1500 years ago every knew that the earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago everybody knew the earth was flat. And 15 minutes ago you knew that people were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know... tomorrow."

Question Linda F Last Scion or M.E.

This movie is probably in my top ten. The combination of practical and CGI effects look so good. I wonder if the simplicity of the story is because it's a comedy. Number 2 you can probably skip, but I need to re-watch it to give a better opinion. Definitely watch number 3 though, I think it's just as good as this one. It's funny you said "You rang" during this not only because Sonnenfeld directed The Addams Family, but the really tall guy played Lurch. I was waiting for you to recognized the coroner as the lead from Dogma. As far as aliens visiting Earth, I think they may have visited but never left their spaceship because they can't survive in our atmosphere.

Two things: one when I pause the movie to take my dog out, I immediately ordered some perogies. Second Will wasn’t as bankable as a movie star as Tom lee jones when this movies was made.

Oh yeah, I saw this and theatre, and I thought it was great as a teenager. Put will smith on the map.

i was about 12 when this was released and it was the hottest shit in 1997. not only a hit movie but, Will Smith wrote a hit single to accompany the movie!!! the version i remember had subtitles not only for the alien dialogue in the restaurant but also for the Spanish in the first scene. not sure why hbo left them out for streaming?!?!?! you said that you felt like the talking dog had a moment. well i know that i saw a report on Inside Edition that was accusing this production of abusing animals. Yes, Tommy Lee Jones shook around a that real dog actor on the streets of New York and there were concerns of animal abuse. im wondering if that was what you were remembering? Do I believe in aliens??? Yes i certainly do. do i believe that aliens have visited Earth??? No!!! you see, interstellar travel is really hard and i am not sure it is really possible for complex life to do. i hope to be proven wrong but there are major concerns other than the extreme distances, and the time to cover those distances, to consider. looking forward to Friday's live and the next watch along!!!

Yes, there are subtitles, but streaming services force you to select the right channel manually. DVD had this sorted out thirty years ago, but we (i.e. the studios) apparently have gone backwards. There should be an English channel which only subtitles "foreign" text besides the normal full English and possibly English + descriptive.

When you were reading the opening credits, I was wondering if you'd recognize Rick Baker's name. He's the MAN when it comes to make-up/prosthetics and animatronics and stuff. He did the transformation in American Werewolf in London. I really wish Linda Fiorentino had come back for part 2. Also, I LOVE that joke when he sees the beaded seat cover and crown air freshener and instantly knows "he's in a cab!"
