The actress who played Fennec Shand, Ming-Na Wen, is hugely popular, so I would be surprised if her character were dead. Plus, the person who approached her at the very end was wearing boots that had the sound of spurs (little sharp wheels on the back of horse-riders' boots). The only other character in the history of Star Wars that had boots that had the sound of spurs was Boba Fett, the bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor from the first Star Wars trilogy, last seen on that same planet of Tatooine (where both Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker grew up). Boba Fett was last seen falling into the Sarlacc pit when Leia, Luke, Han, and the rest destroyed Jabba the Hutt's sail barge.
