Omg finally i love these movies hope you enjoy the others!

Ohh Magy, where to start. Yeah this was my favorite hero when I was a kid, Spidey and Wolverine. So much to get into, I’ll try to keep it short. This is mostly the origin story of how Peter became Spider-Man. They did change a few things from the original comic story. The first girl Peter liked was Gwen Stacy and they replaced her with Mary Jane in this. He met Marry Jane when he was older and I don’t want to spoil anything on that subject. Green Goblin was Spidey’s first and his oldest nemesis. The reason Peter doesn’t tell MJ everything is because, just like in this movie, if his enemies know who he cares about, they’ll always be in danger, which is the last thing he wants. Misunderstandings are basically Peter’s whole life, he’s always trying to juggle his life, with the life of a superhero and he just can’t ever find a balance. I can’t remember if you watched the newer Spider-Man movies, but J Jonah Jameson is always trying to sell papers and having Spider-Man as his top story will help with that, people love bad guys too, they love to hate them anyway. There are a lot more Easter eggs in this movie, but I don’t want to bore you. Just know every character that you have seen in Marvel has about 50 other characters that are connected to them. So many stories and characters of the last 80 years of comics, and a lot of them retold and changed over the years. As I mentioned before, it’s a lot. Yes, that was a pretty memorable kiss and it was talked about for awhile. If you liked this one, the second one is regarded as one of the better super hero movies that have been made. Just a really good story and well told. You’ll get to meet the second most iconic enemy of Spider-Man. There are three of these movies with this cast. After that, they rebooted the story and that has two movies. Those are okay, but it has a different feel. The reason everybody likes the newest version of Spider-Man is because he is a kid and the actor in this movie looked a little old to play a teenager. The line in the movie from Uncle Ben “with great power, comes great responsibility”, is synonymous with the Spider-Man character and it’s why he can never have what he wants, because he always has to be there for someone else first, so he always comes last. Or more accurately, Peter can’t have what he wants, because Spider-Man is always there. I could go on forever, but I’ll stop here and wait for the next movie. Also, if you’d like suggestions for romantic movies, I have a few I’m pretty sure you’d enjoy, it’s always so cute to see you enjoy that part of the movie.

Thanks for the reaction, I think the films with Toby are the best, we will wait for the next parts

MCU Spider-Man movies with Avengers skipped his origin story. Now you have more familiarity from this movie. How Peter Parker was bit by a radioactive spider and gained his powers, his Uncle Ben telling him that well known quote “With great power comes great responsibility” and getting killed by the robber Peter let go. In the newer Spider-Man movies, the death of Uncle Ben is only hinted at. These first 2 Spider-Man movies are pretty solid. One small change to his powers in this movie, they have him shoot web out of his body, which is a weird story choice to me. The newer MCU Spider-Man makes synthetic web and uses mechanical wrist devices to shoot, which is like the original comics. The upside down kiss between Spider-Man and MJ was so iconic that it made its way through pop culture and became timeless.

Damn I haven't seen this since I was a kid. It was so exciting to see this in the movie theater, that old theater smell of carpet and buttered popcorn...not a super hero fan but still like this for nostalgia :) By the way I was wondering if you were planning on watching Goodfellas, Martin Scorsese's most classic film. I know you don't really watch movies like that and it would be interesting to get your perspective on it. Happy Valentine's dude

Love this movie. I remember seeing it for the first time in the theater. It was such a welcome movie, seeing a superhero movie that was actually good. This was probably the first mainstream one since tim Burton's batman and really gave a superhero fan some hope that more great ones would come. Which they did. Going to see this in the theater for the first time was also the first time I had gone out since 9/11. It was such an intense time, an intense year. As much as I enjoy this movie and its unique place for me the second one is better. Looking forward to that.

If you get the chance watch Spider-Man 2.1 the extended version of Spider-Man 2. They have extra scenes of action and romantic scenes that were cut from the movie.

If you like this one. You will love the next one. My Favorite Spider-Man movie. Thanks for the reaction!

I share your thoughts. I saw it in the theater, too, in 2002 with family and we loved it. Did you know that during the mid-1990's James Cameron wanted to direct a "Spider Man" movie? He wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to play Peter Parker/Spider Man, Jack Nicholson to play the Green Goblin and Arnold Schwarzenegger to play Dr. Octopus. The late, great Stan Lee read the script and said it would have been amazing, but it never got made. I think Sam Raimi did a great job with this movie and the next two films.

Magy, you are awesome! :) It is so fun to watch these movies again and relive the experiences. I would love to see you watch and react to "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman II" with the late, great Christopher Reeve. So good!

I've grew up reading the character and never actually liked the Spider-Man movies until Homecoming. Giving this and the second a try again with you. (Definitely skipping the third.) 🙂 Okay, was enjoying your reaction, but just can't sit through the film. Almost turned off during the bored/depressed sounding opening narration, then gave up after 20 minutes. Ah well.

I love how enthusiastic you are and you are so quick to pick up on plot twists. Don't cut back on your comments! You are why we are here! I became a fan of Spider-Man when I was 8 years old in 1963 and I saved all my comics throughout my lifetime. I'm now 66! You should watch for Stan Lee doing a cameo in almost every Marvel movie. He was the older guy that tried to save the little boy at 1:06:58. It was a little boy's dream come true to see Spidey come to life so realistically in this movie!

These are the best Spider-Man films

Awesome reaction. Knew you'd enjoy the love story part of it. It's always a central part of every Spider-Man story.
