Mr. Xu makes Jill an offer she can't refuse...

Okay! 20 new pages (plus a bonus pinup 💖) and we're jumping right back into the story where we left off with Jill and Mr. Xu. Some tough words need to be said, and some even tougher decisions need to be made.

I really, really can't wait to read your thoughts. 😊

P.S. I'm in love with the bonus pinup for this episode. Hope you like it, too.

I love how much Jill talks back to Xu now. She always did to some extent, but there’s a *confidence* now. It’s so good to see. Of course, part of that is that she truly understands the boundaries she’s forced to exist inside now, and while that means she knows how to operate within them, how much leeway she likely has, it’s still a retraction of her horizon. And, confronting her with the *other* horizon, the one Second Dawn as a whole is constrained by, and reminding her on whom the consequences will most harshly fall if everything collapses. Xu, dude, you’ve made a horrible reality. And here come the justifications, Xu’s post-nut clarity. Oh god. Jill’s playing hardball! I’m zipping through the pages almost too fast to think about them! Argh! Oh god times two. Xu invoking Jack’s ghost, the useless guy she grew beyond, to get her thinking to comply with his. And who the hell is your shadow-self, Mr Xu? I’m so intrigued… Oh god times a million. Ryan??? Aaaaaaaaasdghjekrgeyraesrghsaekgaserfgl Emory I can’t cope, this is so good 🥰

Tiki D

I think Jill choosing Ryan is a wise and interesting choice. Ryan has been on the island the longest than Connor. Xu must have alluded that she would pick Conner, but it would have been too obvious. Jill knew this what Xu would want since he is connected to Emily.

Tiki D

Seeing the Jack part within Jill by the way she held her fist was interesting to see.

Tiki D

Xu's metaphor of "every man, there's a woman and every woman, there's a man" really brings it home in terms of Jack/Jill's psychology. Is Jill more Jack or own woman?

Tiki D

I have a feeling that Jill would train Ryan into being more womanly just like Holly did for Jill. Ryan would struggle at first, refusing to accept his/her identity, but has to become one with his feminine side to escape the island.

Tiki D

Why do I feel the wording of Xu discussions with Jill has a hypnotic subliminal messaging to get her agree with him? This is not the first time has pull and push Jill's buttons through physical and psychological means not just manipulation.

Tiki D

Jill is starting to see that Conner can't be saved at this point.

Tiki D

I wonder who train Conner to become full female?

Tiki D

Would Jill used that voice spray on Ryan later during their training?

MaggieHeels

I can't cry because I'm not alone in the workroom right now, but... I am fighting so hard... this is so good in so many ways... the renders are flawless and the story is like the best chess game I have ever seen. Connor, you dumb bastard... (very strategic move Jill, bow to you... Connor may be needed much more where he is now, very soon...) Emory ❣️❣️❣️

Tiki D

Jill still thinking of Mason despite everything he has done to her.

Allan Kim

Though Mr. Xu is a vicious bastard, I admit he is a big man. And even I feel he is a quite charming villain. What he said sounds very cunning and pleausible. I know building this kind of character is very hard and require a lots of effort. I want to let you know I'm really enjoying this. Thanks for your amazing work.

ckarya

Wow, what an interesting conversation between these two! It's clear that Mr. Xu is a scumbag, but the bastard is very good at manipulating and playing with people's minds and desires. He presents Jill with the "candy" of being able to save Adele/Adan from her cruel fate and even ups the ante and offers her, here comes again his "mastery" in manipulation, to choose between Connor or Ryan.... And he gives her the "stick" by warning her that she'd better make the decision as Jill and not as Jack, because he knows perfectly well that Jack's whispering voice is still in her head... from, again, his own experience (crumb, crumb...). I see you Em, with a little smile of enjoyment writing Mr. Xu's dialogs.... not with everyone, but with most of them hehehehe.😉 He also warns you that he knows the machinations of his sister and her group and what they want to do (expose your organization - how many drones do you have Mr. Xu?). And he tries to manipulate Jill by putting her in the dilemma of whether punishing a few will compensate for the suffering of hundreds.... Well played old bastard! We'll see how Jill works it out..... or Jack. And finally, Jill's choice.... Ryan! As a reader of the story I'm not surprised by the choice, knowing the history of both and having no "emotional relationship" with either, so I'd pick Ryan too.... But putting myself in Jill's shoes, I am surprised by the choice of Ryan ahead of HER brother-in-law, even though they didn't get along very well, he is still her sister's current husband and even knowing he has been unfaithful, Jill doesn't know her reaction and her reaction to these discoveries.... So we will have to wait for the next chapter to know the reason for such a decision... ugh! As always, great job, wonderful story and magnificent art!

Great dialogue! Loving the way the story is going!

Estacia

Loving it Em! You craft a lovely story and I’ve been rooting for Ryan to be saved and become Rihanna. ❤️❤️❤️

Emory, my dear muse, you truly never relent in your pursuit of perfection, in both your art and your story. How I wish that I could do more to support you. The fact that Xu is even entertaining mass murder really and truly gets under my skin. But I believe that Xu made a mistake, a big one at 5/22 and 6/22. First off, he can't kill them all without bringing the wraths of their families on his head. Second, he can't recover quickly as all the members of the Second Dawn will be in jail or killed by law enforcement. And third, even if he did kill all the "girls" of the Second Dawn; the very thought makes me wail; they wouldn't stay dead for long. As Imhotep would say "Death is only the beginning". The world and basic justice wouldn't allow it. Just Google "Dolly the Sheep".

Female-Bosmer-Always

Allyson, as I wrote in my comment, I believe Xu is bluffing big-time at 5/22 and 6/22. He can't recover with all his members in jail or dead. But I'd like to know what you and Zoe think as well and your comments on my pinned post in the Community Section. https://www.patreon.com/posts/78908716

Female-Bosmer-Always

You should, Zoe. In one of Emory's Halloween pin-ups, Jill is depicted as angel, although to me she looks more like a Norse Valkyrie with her spear. She is angelic, while Xu is utterly demonic. Xu's threats of mass murder makes him much more The Dragon Emperor, Er Shi Huang Di or Czar Ivan IV. And we all know what Ivan IV was called, don't we?

Emily Morgan

Perfection as always. I don’t care necessarily what happens to Ryan though she is pretty and I’m sure her transition will be memorable for sure. But come hell or high water Conner’s last hope just said goodbye. She will leave as Connie when all is said and done. I’ve got this image in my head where conner(Connie) see’s his wife. And Jill’s sister has to make a choice too. And she chooses to leave conner there too for various reasons. Chief among them being the things he says about Jill.

sniggy02

wow haven't seen jill wearing anything like normal relaxed clothes . so sexy ! can't get enough! you always catch your readers offguard! I hope jill isn't caught off-guard by Zu. I believe she will save both conner and Ryan. Or... die trying !

Nina

Oh gosh! Something tells me this ryan choice isn’t going to last as long as she’s thinking. Ryan is objectively the worse choice of the two so something is fishy here Emory! I’m onto you!!!!!!!! Once again beautiful work! Even Xu’s face is wild to me! He looks so good! I feel like i’m watching one of those high rendered video games where they use famous people!! Also, asking her to tell him about her sister?!?! I didn’t see that coming!! I feel like she’ll do it tho. Her new ‘gifts’ matter too much to her. Also, genuine shot in the dark, i think the ryan end is a red herring! Jill’s about to do something xu requested and break ryan by showing him there’s no way off the island and then get connor for her sister. Viper like but somehow the most jill thing to do. Survival of the fittest and while she doesn’t want to admit it, she thinks life on the island is better than death. I think she’ll even go to lengths to force that on ryan as her ‘jack’ thinking to ‘save’ him too Am i right? :D

Pelicanboss

Well..it's obvious Jill is not a big fan of Connor, the guy must've really pissed her off somehow. But I'm happy to see she picked to help Ryan. There's is a soft side of Xu he's letting to surface with Jill and I wonder why. As many men Xu has altered, why is Jill special to him? Granted she is a magnificent beauty, but why with her. Why isn't Jill just another unit in his inventory, why a "custom" job as he called her? Was Xu liked that with Holly to get her on his side? I really like more of his character is showing up lately. Emory, YOU'RE AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT!!!

findesiecle

Page #6. Amazing...

findesiecle

I think that Xu has something very special in store for Jill. Remember his words about the creation of feminine perfection by whittling away the masculine being a transcendent experience for him? He is going to make Jill perfect...

emoryahlberg

Alyson - Oh my goodness, I love your reactions! They make me so happy. 😊 Yeah, you're spot on about Jill gaining confidence in dealing with Xu, even as her horizons are limited. Their power dynamics are complex, and she's learning how to navigate them, but true freedom is still out of reach. Will she ever obtain it? Of course, Xu would argue "true freedom" was never hers anyway -- but maybe his justifications are meant to convince himself as much as her that he's in the right. 😉

emoryahlberg

Hey Tiki! Yeah, after all Ryan's been through, he deserves a shot at freedom more than Connor does. Family or not, Connor's actions don't make him worthy of Jill's help. She can't save everyone.

emoryahlberg

Interesting speculation! But I think Jill wouldn't force Ryan to become more womanly if that's not what he wants. Ryan has been clear that he doesn't iwant a feminine identity. While adapting to life on the island will require some compromises to ensure survival, Jill seems intent on granting Ryan more freedom and agency than she's had if possible!

emoryahlberg

Maggie, thank you so much for the emotional and passionate feedback! I'm so thrilled that Jill's story is affecting you. 💖 You're right... Connor's mistakes have finally come back to haunt him, and Jill's decision are both strategic and emotional. Does Connor deserve to be freed? Yes, of course. Nobody deserves what Xu is doing to them. But does he deserve it over Ryan? And, of course, the strategic element is could she control Connor if she did free him? Probably not. There is still much of the "game" left to play out and more revelations about the characters and their relationships to come! Please keep the feedback coming - I love getting to share this journey with you. 😊

emoryahlberg

Thank you so much, Allan! I really want to make Mr. Xu a compelling villain, even as his actions are cruel. By (hopefully) crafting a complex, layered antagonists, Jill is in a much more interesting story. Mr. Xu believes in his vision, however twisted it may be, which allows him to justify his means. I aimed to make his persuasiveness and charm as formidable as his darker side! 😁

emoryahlberg

Thank you so much, Estacia! While Ryan's future is uncertain and up to him, Jill choosing to save him was a huge step. Will Ryan succumb and become Rihanna (great name!)... stay tuned! 😊

emoryahlberg

Thank you so much for the thoughtful analysis, ckarya! 😊 I'm so glad you found the conversation between Jill and Xu compelling. Is he is manipulating her or simply being upfront about choices and consequences? And, wow, you're absolutely right that Jill's choice between Ryan and Connor is more complicated for her than as an outside reader. Her relationships to both men, her history on the and, and her values have all factored into a difficult decision. The fallout from her choice will be felt in the future! 😬

emoryahlberg

Thank you, Bosmer! I'm so happy Jill's story continues to resonate. You absolutely make insightful points about the flaws in Xu's extreme plans but consider that the families might never know what happened to the missing young men. Most of them are probably considered likely to be dead already (like Jack). 😢 Since Second Dawn is comprised of multi-millionaires and billionaires, it's unlikely that law enforcement would move on them quickly. They'd have months, if not years, to prepare a legal defense. They have a lot of power!

emoryahlberg

Aww, thank you, Bell! 💖 That's some very interesting speculation about Connor, who has definitely behaved in unforgivable ways. Leaving as "Connie" could be a fitting consequence. If Jill ends up actually joining with Second Dawn, that is likely what will happen. But maybe Mr. Morosini's plan will actually work! 🤞🏻

emoryahlberg

Thank you!!! Yes, Jill is feeling "normal" these days in just plain old feminine clothing. It'd probably feel strange to her now to put on a ratty T-shirt and baggy jeans. 😉

emoryahlberg

Hi Nina! As always, you've made some amazing speculations! 😊 It's true that the choice of Ryan isn't (perhaps) as straightforward as it may seem! Even if Jill is holding out hope for an eventual escape, Connor would be very difficult for her to "control" even on the island... at least without tasing him moe than a couple times per day. Jill absolutely believes adapting is necessary for survival, even if it requires sacrificing parts of oneself. However, after fighting so hard for her own identity and freedom, could she subject Ryan to the same fate? 🤔 How far do you push somebody to "save" them... even if you end up destroying who they are in the process? 😉

emoryahlberg

Thank you, Pelican! You're right, Jill's DEFINITELY not Connor's biggest fan after what he did to Emily. Saving Ryan was her chance to actually help someone else escape this nightmare. At least, she hopes that's the case. Xu does seem to have a softer side for Jill. She's special to him, and he sees her as more than just another captive. Maybe because she challenges and intrigues him? Or because she's a stunning beauty he wants to keep for himself? Hard to say with that guy. 😉 His "interactions" with Holly were originally strategic, meant to gain her loyalty, but his interest in Jill seems more personal. Hm... 💖

Emily

The girls are a favorite topic of everyone here, but I must say, the rendering of Xu has dramatically improved. Well done!

emoryahlberg

Thank you so much, Emily! Yeah, I didn't want to leave the "big bad" stuck in the past. 😉
