Sandy and Jessica's date is very rudely interrupted...

Yay! 20 new pages of Sandy and Jessica! 😊

Writing this episode was so, so fun -- and creating the art was even more fun. There's a couple of revelations and twists in this episode and, as always, I'm very, very eager to read your thoughts!

Jessica Thence

I'm not usually big into series but I like this one.

Good thing Zach knew about Sofia. Still, risque move, could have backfired... Last picture must be fake/imagination - how else did Sandy manage to keep truth about herself from Jessica... :D

Wow, this was a great chapter...another one. 🤩 So looking forward to seeing these two interact in college! Although I'm afraid Nikki is not going to have a good time at all.... at least at first. I think Sofia being an outsider and more mentally mature will handle it better, but you'll come up with something to make it difficult for her hehe. A month to find out how Nikki digests this news, ufff.... I'm really looking forward to seeing her reaction and hearing from her mother and her asshole of a father. Good job Emory! 😘

P.S. Very very fan of Jessica, I always had a weakness for a beautiful redhead.... but she's gone a bit cross-eyed in the pin-up 😜

I know it’s a long stretch. But I would love to see the three football buddies falling in the hands of Mr. Xu, or maybe admitted into second dawn 😝. And wow! The last panel with Jessica is beyond gorgeous! You are reaching very high levels of quality in your art, Emory! It’s wonderful to watch!

I don't remember if page 5 is the first time Mrs. Ferris' husband is mentioned and from what Jessica said he was obviously a crook too, huh? We know Zach's dad has dealings with the Old Xu, how does the Ferrises fit in all that mafia?

A terrific episode, Emory, and psychologically very complex too. Sophia talks to Nick as two guys, but refers to Scott as him. That’s presumably to keep their friendship on the kind of even keel that Nick will feel more comfortable with - if Sophia started to talk about either or both of them as girls, it would arouse Nick’s hostility or make him withdraw even further. As it is, it’s simply reinforcing his isolation and refusal to accept his new reality - not that that’s all bad.

As for Zach, yes, his dad’s the one who’s forcing Nick/Nikki to be his son’s beard, and at the same time it now seems to some extent at least that Zach’s bullying is a defensive front, like his mirror glasses; never seeing his eyes is a brilliant and telling detail on your part. Sophia standing up to him and his cohort’s baffled reaction could be the start of his father’s entire strategy unravelling. Great set up. And your artwork is exquisite as always.

Honestly I hope those two jerks get what's coming to them. (if) they take things a step too far and suddenly find themselves 2 balls short for their favorite sport. (well at least that main jerk, the heavier guy seemed a bit more backseat jerk)

always love a good ally during pride month

sometimes i feel like the story doesn't move, i mean, it's been about 1.5 episodes of that bench, i realize that this is a part of establishing something in the plot but it would be rather refreshing to see the scene change more often

Emory, I am amazed to see the mastery of the expressions not only of the characters but also those of the faces which build the scenario by transmitting the non-verbal movement of their presence and the aromas of their journey. It is a great talent to be able to identify and produce the reflections of their thoughts like a mirror in front of reality. WOW

Ooooh a date with Zach.....I wonder if his Dad will remove Nikki's cage hehe x

emoryahlberg

Thank you, Stacy. I doubt he'll remove the cage -- as far as Zach's father is concerned, that part of Nick should never be used again!
