In an alternate world, Ursula the Sea Witch is facing defeat before the events of the film can take place. However, she leaves behind a cursed necklace, which will cause whoever finds it to embody her essence and ensure that her evil cause will not go to waste.

Ariel the Mermaid desperately wishes to travel to the human world, especially after having caught a glimpse of the handsome Prince Eric. Having heard rumors of the old Sea Witch's cavern, Ariel decides to venture there and see if anything can help her achieve her dream, against the advice of her friends Sebastian and Flounder.

Arriving to the Cave, Ariel comes across the necklace, and feeling its pull, places it on. Ariel is transformed in the plump, mature, and evil Sea Witch version of herself, as well as corrupting Sebastian and Flounder to be her minions. Still obsessed with the Human World, Ariel now wishes to marry Prince Eric and take over his kingdom, using it to eventually rule both Land and Sea.
