I used to be way more involved with the whole steam greenlight/marketplace discussion a few years ago, and it was almost shocking to see that it´s still a recurring topic, but the video reamined really illuminating and interesting. The last section about hate speech reminded me of something that happened recently, involving brazil´s latest fascist president. A game was greenlit on steam, and i believe it was actually sold for a short period of time, in which players controlled Bolsonaro in a typical hack and slash scenario, but their enemies were LGBTQIA+ people, women and also PoC. Locally, the game sparked some discussion rather similar to what you argue in the video. Could it be that an environment that poses as inclusive and free for everyone replicates the same power plays and power structures that we live in real life spaces? As in, since steam pretty much let all games through, it´s not a matter of bad games saturating the market, but maybe alt-right-shtiposting saturating yet another media vehicle? This is just something that occured to me, but as I said, I´m, really not up to date with these discussions and could be making an ill-informed assumption. maybe i just need a steam gay edition ((Those were some really pretty chords at the beggining of the song, thanks for making such great things, it´s a pleasure supporting you <3))
