Wrapping your mind around your life is pretty hard, because you are up to your neck in it. It's like trying to understand the ocean while learning how to swim. On most days you are busy just keeping your head above water. So it is not easy to figure out what to do with your life and how to spend your time. There are a million distractions. Your family, friends and romantic partners, boring work, and exciting projects. Video games to play and books to read. And then there is your couch that somebody needs to lie on. It’s easy to get lost. So let us take a step back and take a look at your life from the outside.

I didn't need an existential crisis during my morning coffee.

I just had a conversation with my partner about time, how it is the most valuable currency in this world, and using it to its fullest. 30 seconds later, I received the Discord notification about this video. I read you loud and clear universe....

In a eulogy I recently gave, I said that the life of a person can be summarized in three points: 1) The people who (positively) influenced you 2) Your accomplishments and best memories, whether shared or not 3) The people you (positively) influenced Considering that you have very little control over 1), and that you mostly take 2) with you to your grave, think of way you can improve 3), whether through volunteering or other ways.

I will paint all my weeks in the “watching kurztesagt videos” colour.

Well, I'm a bit confused after watching this video. How is it supposed to help us, human, in our life? It feels depressing, as many comments already pointed out. A follow up to this video would be great to better understand your approach, I feel many of us don't get it.

Great video. However, my name is not in the description as the latest video The Final Border.

It suggested to you that reach out to a friend, do something that you have postponed for a while. Life is too short for anxiety. I should know. I wrote this after I watched the video: "Well, about ten years ago I had a stroke. It almost killed me - I nearly rolled a critical failure on the die. I was 37. This taught me to look at the small things in life: The sun shining, birds chirping, a nice talk with a friend and so on. This video is kind of what I walking thinking about when I lay in hospital for two weeks ten years ago. Life is precious. Make something of it, even small things have value."

The title was a pretty clear warning. Also, it's Kurzgesagt -- if it's not existentially challenging, it was probably uploaded by an imposter and will be subsequently deleted.

Thank you, this topic was a good wake-up call many of us need. Another one perhaps even more important is regarding the unsolved AI safety problem. There are many myths and misconceptions to dispel.

One of your better videos, this really made me think about how to spend the next 50 years of my life. I actually created a bucket list and a countries I want to visit list. Thanks guys, more of these and less of "what happens if you drop nukes where ever" 😊😊

Is this upbeat version of Mad World available anywhere for download / stream?

What a video, your content never disappoints! Thanks 👍

I'm not crying. You're crying! Too real. Thank you for making such eclectic material in an approachable way. Even though the topics are overwhelming, you frame them with care and candidness.

Hell yes

Come on guys, I just woke up

ghostman

That was a beautiful video.

Poignant but hopeful. As someone who will reach that magic number of 65 this summer, it is another reminder of how precious each day is. Now, should I be _that_ mother who sends a link to her son so maybe he'll call or visit? LOL! Tempting.... I love your videos - thanks for all you do!

Great video! The original post on WBW really inspired me a few years back. I tried reaching out to my toxic parents, however, and having had my hand burnt on the stovetop for the n-th time in a row, decided to block them instead 😪

Kurzgesagt: "You're doing nothing with your life." Me: "AHHHHH."

I feel inspired again because of this vid, I'll keep watching it over and over to remind me the importance of this life

This video was deeply impactful to me.
