We have now watched part 6 and 7 of the Friday the 13 series! I now see why 6 is a fan favorite because damn, that is a stupidly fun movie. And such a surprise, too! After how awful part 5 was, I wasn't expecting almost a straight retcon of that film (or at least a complete disregard), nor was I expecting essentially a genuinely good comedy movie with Jason at the helm. And it actually still managed to have tons of atmosphere and build some stakes by the end of the movie! It almost felt like the series' own Gremlins 2 moment of fourth-wall breaking and metacommentary, though not quite as great as Gremlins did. Still, really fun movie.

After Part 6 though, it was kind of a welcome surprise to go back to straight, classic camp slasher horror with Part 7. And it was pretty effective, too! Throwing in the telekinetic elements with the protagonist was a great excuse for new effects, and this was easily Jason's best look. The rotting skin, the shredded clothes... dude's never looked HOTTER. It was nice to see just a traditional F13th again, even if the ending was a bit weak.

Apparently, it all goes downhill from here for the series, but we're committed to see the whole thing through. Plus, Leslie and I are both stupidly excited for Part 8, just because the premise sounds really fucking funny. 

Oh, and for those who subscribed for Rock Cocks rather than Friday the 13th opinions, here's a concept sketch of our newest revealed character, Johnson. Very pretty~
