Hello Patrons!

Here's a new piece of music for you ! It's the first part of the "University of Magic" piece I shared the other day.

The amount of work it required is simply mind boggling. I think I'm close to a hundred hours of work for that first part. It may not sound like it, but in terms of harmony, it's very complex, probably my most complicated track so far. I really liked the intro, and finding a second part that fits with it was the hardest. I think I deleted for about 5 minutes of music before I found what I wanted.

For the next piece, I'll make a combat song I suppose (it's not a promise). I'll try to make it long enough to used easily in a TTRPG context.

I attached the song in three different formats, so you can chose the one you prefer.

Thank you for your support!

OK, yeah this is a great piece...much better after you reworked it. It transitions and blends nicely, one piece to the next. I especially like the addition of the xylophone near the middle, and the wind instrument? around 2:48...is that bassoon? bass clarinet? Always liked that sound, and I've always liked the oboe...which I believe is what I hear used quite a bit in this piece? Anyway, great job on parts 1 and 2...really sets a good mood. Regarding the combat music, if I can make a request... Most combat music I hear is too over the top and "in your face" combat music. I think most people tend to take their cue from game combat music and intense movie scores. That's fine for a couple of minutes, but tends to wear on one's nerves when played during a combat encounter at the table...which can take 30 minutes, an hour, or longer. So my request would be for a loopable piece of combat music that is less intense, but still let's the players feel like/know they're in combat...something that doesn't wear on your nerves after 5 minutes. Thanks for considering. :)

100% what Rob says! As a DM I frequently see how my players are affected by the music. If its to stressy, they tend to rush things, think less, etc. PnP lacks a HUD/UI for a player to interact with and many visual Input, which mitigates the effects of such combat music. Thus when played outside of those videogames, it really can be perceived a whole other way!

Hello Rob! Thank you for your feedback, it's really appreciated. I do agree with you on all points. Epic music is great, but it's not fitting in the background for a long fight. I'll see how I can make combat music that isn't tiring over time! And yes, at 2:40 it's bassoon and contrabassoon together. I LOVE wind instruments in general, I'd love to use them more.

That's true! I'll definitely take that into account to avoid too epic music and compose a battle music that can be played as a loop without being tiring for the ears
