Art Talk: Making of a picture #2 (Patreon)
Content
While I prepare some updates on new picture sets and so on, how about a making of a picture that I'll create step by step with you?
Last time we saw how I start gathering references and how that lead to a very rough sketch giving an overall idea of the picture I wanna make.

This time let's start by revealing the character: Violet Evergarden form the series of the same name :) Some of you asked me to draw her and I really loved her elegant design. That's why i had to study lot of references to understand how the series creators did their job and made such an incredible character :) Her outfit is full of details, that's where all the saved references comes handy, to check if everything is in place in my drawing.
That's how I created the lineart for this picture, which is the uncolored, "inked" version of the picture. I work digitally, so it's not real ink, but you got the point. The digital medium allows me to fix mistakes a little more easily than pen and paper, but I love to work with classic tools as well. In this lineart, you can see how the pose follows the rough sketch, while also adding many many details. In particular the skirt was a good challenge and I had to study the references carefully to get it right! I hope you like the result:

Next time, we'll talk a little bit about perspective lines, before getting to color the picture ;)
I hope you liked this Art Talk :) No worries, more pictures coming soon!
