 Done and Doing

-Finished a guard idle.

-Finished some more guard idles

-Finished some shady guy idles.

-Working on a new scene for Rei.

-working on a few new backgrounds.

-Improving scenes I made earlier.

It's the improving of scenes etc which has a lot of work hidden within it. These are scenes which I've already drawn, but aren't yet present in book 2. There's always something which can be done better and once I've seen a thing which I feel needs to be changed it's hard to leave it be.

For example, a layout can look fine at first but when you add the background and textbox it can fall apart because the view is more obstructed than I initially thought it would be.

It's not just the layout which can make you want to do another version. A temporary background can make the shading of a character look appropriate, but when combined with the finished version of the background that same shading sometimes looks wonky.

Then there's small changes like for example Azula's head. A lot of small incremental changes made her latest version look very different from the very first sketch I put on paper. The changes are sometimes big and sometimes very small, but they all take time and are absolutely worth it in my opinion.

Btw, how do you guys like Rei? We wanted someone who looked imposing(but still sexy) and this is what we came up with. Anyone here hoping for "death by snu snu"?

We've also been looking at some art in book 1 and are trying to decide whether it's possible to start adding some changes there as well. Nothing big which requires coding, but simply a few graphical updates.

Especially during the weekends when we can really cut loose(more time) I have a tendency to start improving older graphics. We don't want the progress of book 2 to suffer for it though, so we try to be sensible and only do it when the coder has enough assets to keep himself busy with.

Having said that, I've already started to sketch some rough new faces for Katara.
