Hey, buddies! It has been over 2 months since our last update, so we're here with another major progress report on the development of Camp Buddy! We ask everyone to please take the time to read through this post as it contains a lot of information about the inquiries most of you may have!

STORY / SCRIPTWRITING

Once again, we are putting this aspect first, as we are still completely-focused on working only with the story and scriptwriting ever since the last major update (December 2017).

We're happy to announce that in addition to Hiro and Hunter's story routes, Yoichi's route has also been completed! There has been a significant improvement in the process of our storywriting. To give you all a summary of how much time each route took for us to finish, check out the details below:

  • Hiro's route: 5 months
  • Hunter's route: 2.5 months
  • Yoichi's route: 2 months

We understand that the storywriting process has been taking a lot of time, but we're continuously finding new ways to improve our pace with writing without compromising the quality. We are also going to run-through Hunter's route for a week or two as we have evaluated that his route would need to match the quality of what we came up with for Hiro and Yoichi. With that being said, and having Natsumi and Taiga's route remaining to be written, we expect the storywriting process to be finished within four (4) months, or hopefully earlier.

PROGRAMMING

On a brighter note, while the story is being written, our programmer: Jey has been working with the coding/programming of the already-finished routes! Three (3) in-game days in Hiro's route have been fully coded and that's already a whooping 15,000 coded lines! We plan to keep the programming process continuously-running while the story is being written for the other routes!

ART

CG Scenes/  FX Scenes / Sex Scenes

With Yoichi and Hiro's route fully completed, we have fully-drafted all CGs required for the said routes! Completion of these CGs will be done as soon as the storywriting process is completed! Unlike the storywriting task, art is actually where our main workforce can manage the best and work fastest, so there isn't a huge problem with regards of the time of its completion!

We'd love to give you more previews, but we don't want to spoil everything~

New Character

On top of the original 15-Character Cast and the previously announced additional 4-Supporting Characters and 3-Cameos, we have added another cameo in the game! 

Introducing a familiar face: Jirou!

ANIMATION (NOW RECRUITING)

On our last major update, we have announced Yvnar's official resignation from the project. Yvnar was the one in-charge of the animation of all the sex scenes and ever since he has resigned from Camp Buddy, we have been scouting for animators to take his place. Unfortunately we are still unable to recruit one up to this moment. With plenty of work left to do, we have begun considering if adding animation to the sex scene cgs could be possible given the time frame we have.

We wanted to ask you, our dear supporters, patrons and non-patrons alike, if you think that we should push this feature through. As much as our team does not want to give this feature up, we have to be realistic that we haven't found any qualified animators to do such task. 

That is why we are reaching out to everyone to see if we could receive some referrals from animators some of you might know who would be interested in working with Camp Buddy!

OPENING VIDEO

We have also announced that our previous opening video animator has also resigned from the project, but we have great news this time!

The role of Animator for Camp Buddy Opening Video has been officially recasted to Howl! You guys might be familiar with him since he is also the opening theme animator for the Yaoi Game: Bacchikoi! We will officially release the music video within the 3rd week of March 2018 so please stay tuned for it!

MERCHANDISE

It has been quite a long time since the physical merchandise for Camp Buddy was produced, but we never had the chance to show them to everyone. Finally we were able to take a photo of them, so check out the official Camp Buddy merch below:

Note: These merchandise are included with the final product to be shipped to patrons who have accumulated Gold level and above. We have decided to upgrade the stickers into acryclic keychains as well for Gold level accumulated pledgers! Please be reminded these accumulated pledges were only valid during the October 2016 until May 2017 pledges.

YAOI EXPO 2018

We're happy to announce that BLits Team has been invited to attend Yaoi Expo 2018. Since our team has not even debut yet with our project, we will be just there to show some previews about Camp Buddy, have a Q&A panel, and also to bring some merch while we're at it!

It is a one-day event where we will sell physical copies of the Camp Buddy and Zael (Zamius) Patreon Reward Compilations for a very limited discounted price (and only 25 pieces in stock too)!

New Monthly Poll Schedule

We have observed how more and more people are participating with our monthly polls, so we have decided to put up a poll within the 1st week of every month from now on! This way we can give more time for patrons to vote, and also with the poll ending sooner, we get to have more time to work with the reward previews sooner so patrons can see a glimpse of the reward before the month ends!

Patreon Reward Improvements

As many of you might recall, it was announced back in June 2017 that the rewards will only feature one-character per CG set, and the said CG would not also feature background art. 

However, as months have passed, I'm sure most of you have noticed that we have changed to higher quality of rewards by featuring background art, including pairings, and trying to put interesting themes with the patreon rewards! We would like to keep it that way and guarantee that our patrons only receive the best effort we can everytime! 

Monthly Poll Format Changes

As we reach closer and closer to the game completion, we have also gotten almost all possible crack pairings through patreon rewards, we want to make sure that we let the characters get a chance to be voted into the spotlight thus we will be having some exciting changes with our monthly poll! We will be updating the overview of Camp Buddy Patreon Page and update the contents by next weekend! We'll add a FAQ section to answer common inquiries regarding the page, game and the release date!

WHEN IS THE NEXT UPDATE?

We will be scheduling a another major update once we have completed another character route! We expect it to be sometime around the beginning of May 2018!

WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE?

As all of you may have read on the amount of work done, declaring a final release date is still not possible as of this moment. However, with all the great changes and improvements with the pace, we have arrived with a new estimate.

We are targetting to release Camp Buddy within the SUMMER OF 2018! We definitely can no longer afford to go beyond that said period, and we will be pushing ourselves harder than ever, above and beyond our capabilities, and finding new ways to improve the pace at all cost to deliver this project. At the same time, we will need all of your help ,support, and understanding to make this possible~!

To ensure that the game comes out this summer, I would say hold off on animation for the launch. Maybe down the road a later update with the expanded routes you could add it in, but I did not expect animation in the first place. I would rather have my milkshake sooner than wait for the cherry on top.

I think the animation can make it look better. But I think some movement can reduce. For example the sence keitero masturbate at the bathroom at the demo, I think the smoke from his breath and his hand movement can be kept but his chest movement is unnecessary. So maybe keep having animation with hand movement(or other movement which can show they are making love) can keep to give a better quality.

It's great to hear that Yoichis story is finished aswell now. I was expecting the release to be pushed back since the story seems to take a lot of time to be in a place where you and your team feel comfortable with the quality. That said it's not a problem since quality matters the most in this. I would lie if said I'm happy that the release gets pushed back even further but I understand it and don't have a problem with it since I value quality over an earlier release. Regarding animated scenes they are a nice extra but not essential in my opinion and if there is no animator that fulfills your requirements I'd personally say that you should simply leave it out. on another note the little previews for Hiro, Keitaro and Yoichi are nice though I have to say ( and I never thought I would say that) the BDSM theme going on in the Yoichi preview is way to much for me xD That's the first time Yoichi makes me uncomfortable in a bad way. I think it's supposed to be him not being in control but I'm just really not a fan of the ball gag and the collar that just feels like he's treated like a dog ( I think that's what it's supposed to be but it's simply not my taste) and that feels like too much for me. I'm sure though that it will look good in the end and will fit nicely in his story so don't mind me rambling about it ^^ I'm as always excited what the new polls will bring and I'm interested in the changes that will happen going forward. I know you and your team work hard to make this possible without sacrificing the quality of the game to bring it out quicker and I'm happy to support this project and will do so until it's released. Please remember though that you and your team even now should rest enough since this project will surely be straining in one way or another and I wouldn't want you or your team to overexert yourselves. With all that being said thank you for this update it's always nice to get a little insight about the pace of the developement ^^

I'm a software and web developer and I know how difficult it is to give an exact release date. You always find bugs, improvements or things you can add...and you want to give people high quality content, so it is even more difficult to be specific when it comes to the release. Due to financial issues I'm only able to give you a few bucks, but I hope a coffee or something will help you. I don't care about the actual price of this game though (if you plan on taking money), because I'm really looking forward to it. The characters are sexy as fuck and the storylines make it an even better Yaoi game with so much cuteness! Don't stress yourselves and keep up the good work. Love you all &lt;3

First to address the big issue, the animations, I think I said during the firs time you announced them, I wasn't a big fan of the idea, especially if it was going to delay the game at all (though the scenes themselves looked good) So if you choose to drop the animations, I would be fine with that, you can then focus on the part of the game that really matters, the story, and art. So if you are not able to find a skilled animator, in a relatively short period of time, then I say that you just move on, and drop the animation for now. Glad to see that Yoichi's route is finished, and that the pacing of your writing seems to be improving, without drop in quality, I'm sure we can all say, no one wants a rushed story, especially for their favorite character. I would be pretty disappointed, if I played through some awesome character arcs, then finally got to mine, and it was only half as long, or the quality was significantly lowered, because you had to rush through it to get the game out faster. Which is why I'm really glad to hear that you are spending more time on Hunter's route, to bring it up to par with the rest of the characters stories, as I personally would be greatly disappointed if his alone was less polished then the rest, as he is my favorite character. Is that preview art with Yoichi real o.o don't get me wrong, I love some good BDSM, (that actually pushes Yoichi up a notch on my favorites list) and the lock on Yoichi's neck definitely hints that he may as well, I'm just wondering how he got himself into that situation, as I really don't see Keitaro being the one to chain and gag him like that. And with how "in control" Yoichi always seems to be in his set, it odd to see the roles reversed in such an extreme way. I almost would have thought that Yoichi would be the one wanting to chain and gag someone else. Keeping that lock around his neck, not for himself, but for his "pet." Really excited to see how that turns out. About Jirou, I know that he and Connor are just cameos, but Jirou's into says that they have enrolled at Camp Buddy, at first I though that we would see them during an off camp field trip or something, but will they be oficial campers now? Or was that just meaning that they are officially part of Camp Buddy, the Game, not the actual in game camp. Either way, I am super excited to see what roll they, along with Toshu and Ichiru will have with the rest of the campers, their stories excite me just as much as the main cast. Would love to be able to visit you guys at the Anime expo! to bad I have no way of getting there, so I wish you guys all the best! Have lots of fun, and get the word out about Camp Buddy! The more people to support this project the better, as that means more games in the future! And I want you guys to have a long and successful career, with lots of expansions, sequels and games in the years ahead. Can't wait to see what polls you have ready for us next week, and what changes you will be making to the format, I'm really excited to see how this goes, as my favorite has been woefully under represented, and would love for him to get more chance to shine. As far as having seen all crack pairing, not sure where you got that at, as there are still so many pairs left to go, Hunter, Set, Felix, Lee, Eduard, Goro, have all never been in a pair with anyone but their in game romance (Keitaro for Hunter, Yoshinori for Goro) Yoishi, Natsumi, and Hiro have definitely taken up the spotlight when it comes to crack pairings, and Taiga, just decided to get them all out of the way at once XD So still lots of options I think, and I hope you decide to give us a few more surprised as the months go on. Pretty much agree with all of this! In particular I'd really like to see Taiga/Eduard/Lee and Hunter/Taiga (Hunter on top), but Felix and Seto need some actual action too (though I'm never sure who to pair them with). Animations are not necessary, its definitely more important to focus on the story and art. I have no issue with the delays, but the estimate seems pretty hopeful to me - 4 months of writing left brings us into July, and that doesn't include the actual coding which it sounds like there's still a lot left to do for. I hope we can actually get it on time, but I fear it's actually going to be much later this year.

Sounds good. Not a big fan of that bondage yoichi preview. IMO bondage drastically lowers the quality of things. I'm glad about the changes made to the monthly rewards. The solo ones were getting boring, but the pairings are great! Besides wanting to see Tosh and Masaru.. The only pairings left that I really want to see are AidenX Hiro, HiroX Yoichi, Taiga X hiro and Yoichix Taiga. Also, as a side note you should do some more frottages in the vein of the one from Sleepover because that one was super hot as opposed to the mutual masturbation style that has been done so far with the project. Just be cool to see something like that with a pairing. Keep working hard! PS. Don't worry too much about the animations. To me voices and animations are secondary. If you find an animator later you can always put a patch out for the game, but don't make animation a focus of the vanilla game.

That's one thing we will have to disagree on, I think the bondage can greatly improve things, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it plays out in Yoichi's story, and if if or any other fetishes crop up in any of the other stories. I do agree though, I would like to see some more frotage scenes, they are very hot to me too, and I really loved the one with Hiro and Keitaro, and hope we get to see one for each of the pairs in camp buddy, or just in future rewards.

First of all, excellent progress so far. It seems that your team is very organized and you're becoming more efficient with each passing milestone. As for animations, they are great but not necessary. I'd rather hold off on them to ensure the rest of the game is compete. The Yoichi preview is HOT. I know some aren't fans of bondage but I can ensure that the situation is consensual and I more than look forward to exploring this side of Yoichi. Yoichi letting himself grow close enough to let someone tame him is probably big for his character development (plus I'm just a sucker for submissive Yoichi lol Am I the only one? So lonely..)

The thing for me is if you add a fetish or reveal one atleast give some context to it since this is the first time that indicates they will be present and that's not the best move to do when you have people supporting you more than a year to just present it without any word regarding it. I may come off as way more angry about this than I actually am but maybe one or two sentences why fetishes were needed, wanted or fit into the route would have been nice. To get a better understanding rather than the way it was dealt with.

After reading over a variety of comments and feedback on this update, I'm sorry that a lot of patrons are upset over the implications of the Yoichi preview. I don't wanna see support of the game go down because of it. That's why I believe it may be a good idea to possibly offer that scene as a bonus for patrons who WOULD like to see that kind of thing. I myself am onboard with paying a little extra since this does appeal to me, though I'm aware that there are fans out there who might not want to see it in the main game. This is just a thought, who knows how this will play out but let's have faith in Mikkoukun to do what pleases everyone. So yeah. Summer 2018 everyone, we're getting close. Let's all get excited and look at the good!

If it's the way they envisioned the story they as the creators should be able to add these kind of scenes. It's their game in the end and just because the more vocal people me included aren't head over heels for it doesn't mean it's not accepted ^^ If it's the way they want the story to unfold that's just how it is and I will have to live with that and that's fine I alone do not represent the majority of people and I will just have to accept what they will do with the stories ^^

Hey guys! There's a lot of discussion over the Yoichi CG that has been previewed, and I wanted to apologize for the confusion and sudden displaying of a certain fetish CG in game. I want to assure everyone that the CG is a consensual CG in the route, as well as that it is skippable for those who prefer not to view it (as are all sex scenes). This cg is also a variant cg, meaning that outfits may change based on certain situations in game, and is unlocked via choice scene, so it's not guaranteed that the player with unlock it on the first playthrough! As for the actual context of the scene, I can promise everyone that it makes sense in the story and is not just thrown in there randomly XD We made sure to take our time with every CG and work out the context, and I really do think that you'll all enjoy it when given the chance to try it! Hello, Vicky! We estimate that the development of the game will consume up to two months at max after Taiga's story has completed. During the 4-month process of storywriting, we have managed to find a way to make the other parts of the development continue on as well, so this makes even less content to complete after story. Also, the beta-testing process could take 2-3 weeks at max to make sure the game releases with as few bugs as possible.

Thank you for the clarification it's actually really relieving to hear that it may look different depending on the players choices or that it is even skippable altogether if you don't like it. That definitely calmed me down quite a bit so again thank you ^^

Wow this games is getting bigger. I think I have a friend who is an animator. Also have you ever thinking about making a monthly reward about non characters from Blits like "what if" but it didn't appear a game?

You're right that could be a apron ^^ Though the way he looks indicates to me that it's not a sex scene. I'm kinda interested what the Keitaro one is since 3 routes are finished so the middle one could be one with Hunter maybe? Going just off of Keitaros expression maybe top Hunter? If that one involves him.

Thank you for your annoucement. I am glad and sad in the same time. Glad to see story/ scriptwritting is go on smoothly and faster than last year, that is a good sign. Sad to don't know a actually release date (want to know dd/mm/2018) and you cannot recruit animator until now. I want to ask you, do you have plan if you cannot have animator when story/scriptwritting complete? What should you do? 1) Postpone release date until you found one (maybe next year) 2) removed animated cg and say sorry for that (Sorry for any pledges that support to reach milestone) 3) You may learn how to do animated CG and do it by yourself (It is so cruel for you but sometime you should support youreself) 4) your answer.... They said in the announcement that they won't push the game past the Summer, so no need to worry about waiting till next year. So if they can't find an animator in a reasonable amount of time, then they will likely drop the animations from the game. But they can always work on them after, and release them in a future update.

Yes, we definitely intend to sell these merchandise when we attend conventions! However, for patrons who have been qualified to receive physical copies, they automatically receive these keychains along with their game!
