LOOOOOOOOOOOK
A while ago I've found a neat plugin for making trees (ATree3D), and I haven't really sat down to try to work it out well enough, until a few days ago. The first time I used it was for that Cause and Effect piece. There was literally one small tree in it, and it wasn't a particularly great one. XD Anyway! A few days ago I got an idea for a piece that will need a few very realistic trees, so I decided to give ATree3D another try. I succeeded in figuring it out completely. C:
Then I figured "hey, Anza has unbelievably shitty trees that have been bothering me since the beginning - why not fix that?" The image above is the result. 80% realistic acacia trees! :D Just three for now, but I'll make maybe two or three more variations. The only downside is that ATree3D produces rather expensive trees. The old trees in Anza had 300-500 polys each (haha ha hahaha haaaaaa). The new acacias I try to keep within 200,000-400,000 each. ._. This also means they're almost 1000 times better than the old ones. XD
I will additionally improve the bushes, grass, and maybe cacti, too.
So, while this isn't a very big and exciting thing, on its own it's really nice. And the plugin's instability aside, making trees is very relaxing.
Fun fact: It took me probably around 12 hours to perfect the acacia base setup, and each variation takes up to half an hour of tweaking to make.
P.S. Pardon this particularly long silence; I've been extremely absorbed by several things, one of which is a very nice piece made with 4 variations that I will finish in a day or two. Or three. SOON. Very tired.
