Patreon did a thing (Patreon)

They will be sending everyone emails about it on the 7th, but I figured I'd address this personally too.

So basically, being a Creator on Patreon requires some fees to be paid. Once all your pledges process, Patreon takes 5% of that. And that's fine; they need money to continue doing what they do - just like me, or any other Creator here. Then there are also payment processing fees. If a Creator has lots of wonderful people supporing them *poke nudge wink*, those processing fees can amount to really high values, and so far, Creators were paying for that; it could be anywhere between 7-15% of all earnings.

In my case, it usually meant getting around $140-160 less each month. That is not a small sum.

Now for the change. Starting December 18th, those fees will be added to your pledges in the form of 2.9% + $0.35. So let's say you're on the $10 tier - if I make a charge post after the 18th, you will be charged $10,64 for it. That's not a big difference for you, but it makes a huge difference for me in the long run. It literally took like $2000 per year, just for the processing fees. ._.

BIIIIIIIG difference for Creators, like srsly. If you require more information, this FAQ should satiate most of that. And if you're considering canceling your pledge because of these changes, please consider switching to a lower tier, or limiting your monthly pledge cap instead. ^~^
