Hi all,

with this update all animations for "The Goo" project are finally done!

The next update will be the entire short without sound. The mp4 will be available for download for all patrons as soon as I have it.

The Patreon campaign will continue in January 2023, so existing patrons will be charged again - please keep that in mind. I would also like to give you another animation poll then, since I expect to need to wait for foley, music and voice acting anyways.

MORE DETAILS:

There's a couple of minor issues with the short that need to be resolved:

.) editing all backgrounds like in the image above (more contrast and black linework)

.) shot 18: no shadow is cast on the table

.) shot 23: same issue

.) science equipment has no reflection in the floor tiles (some quick brush strokes will do; nothing too fancy)

other edits that came up, but might not be worked on:

.) shot 5: adding more frames to the goo right at the end to make it look more runny

.) shot 14: make a 2nd expression for Eva for the heavy breathing loop before it cuts to the next shot

.) shot 23: add 2-3 more frames for a slow-down during the loop that could also be used as an insertion transition from shot 21

If the short would benefit from one or two stills, I'd like to add those, but I'm going to compile all animations first before deciding on that. What comes to mind is a full-body shot of Eva whenever her suit design changes. Since that happens twice it might be good to lean into that and maybe have a text that says "Suit V2" and "Suit V3", but I'm aware it could ruin the tone so I need to see about that later. Another one would be a short text explaining how they got their suits in the first place and it shows an illustration of the broken goo-container from the comic.

Generally I want to refrain from lingering on shots for too long. Just because it took so long to make, doesn't mean I need to artificially extend the video. (Everybody will skip over a loop that's on screen for a full minute - it's just not fun to watch.) I also don't want to over-animate the camera. No camera shaking or too fast movements. No wiggling the camera along with a loop.

There's still a good amount of issues ahead, but the project is very close to being done and I can't wait to share it with you. I'd like to thank you for sticking with me until now and wish you very happy holidays if you're celebrating and I'll see you soon!
