Regarding Patreon’s temporary suspension (Patreon)

tl;dr: I'm on the clear but gotta age canon under-18 chars. up harder than I used to. No furry x human allowed. Can't post older stuff on twitter. Looking into alternatives but focus remains on Patreon.  March will be a test run & should start posting pics soon.

What happened?

The 18th of February Patreon contacted me because they believed some of my work broke their guidelines and put my account in temporary suspension. Not resolving the issue before the end of the month would result in no pledges being processed for February, so as time was running out I was forced to remove all my posts to be on the safe side. 

They also required me to either remove all links to Patreon on any of my accounts that contain this older content OR remove all the “violative content” from them so I can keep linking to my Patreon. That’s why you may notice my twitter looking a bit barren too.

So what did Patreon disapprove of?

The main issue was that they believe I had not aged canonically under 18 characters enough, and referred to pokegirls and hero academia characters in particular.

Essentially, when drawing a character who is under 18 in canon both body and face have to differ enough from the original design so that no one could confuse it for the original, especially when it comes to the face. I believe the bodies on my depictions were clearly mature enough and Patreon mainly had problems with the faces, such as on my sets “Double Reins” & “Spit-roasted Piggy Lover” (google them + my name to check them, I can’t link to them). 

Lastly there was a minor issue with my Isabelle piece due to her being with humans, which as far as I know has only become a problem recently.

Plans moving forward on Patreon

I’ll try to follow Patreon’s advice when aging under 18 characters up, it may take a while to find the sweet spot so please bear with me. I should be able to draw 18+ character’s faces on model as long as their bodies already look mature (such as some of the chars on my banner like Shinobu).

I've been recommended to post my previews only on Discord, but considering ~35% of my patrons don’t use it and that I’m going to follow the guidelines anyway, the wisest option is to continue posting on my feed as usual. Let’s hope Patreon doesn’t suddenly become stricter or adds some unreasonable rule.

I’m also strongly considering alternatives, I’ll let you know if I ever start using one.
 

What about twitter?

I'm not allowed to promote my Patreon on twitter posts if I ever reupload any earlier "violative content", so I guess I’ll just upload the new safe stuff for now and figure out what to do with the rest later when I have more time, right now I got a lot of work to catch up on.

I think that’s about it, glad I can finally get back to making art instead of deleting it. I got some art already made but I'll try to space releases evenly during these next three weeks.
