It's S&F Extra time! So here's your regular monthly dose behind-the-scenes features and bonus art.

In the gallery above, you'll find the full sized images of each piece, as well as some timelapse making-of GIFs! And down here, I'll provide some info about each one.

Scooby Gang
Like all my inktober pieces, this was initially drawn on an 8.5x11 piece of paper... but as you can see, it was a pretty easy image to "expand" by simply adding more to the silhouetted characters. I used a paint splotch texture and the Photoshop noise filter for the colour version, to help give it a little more of that classic cartoon look.

Chestburster Fuzzy
Here's my second Halloween dress-up piece. I couldn't say know to this suggestion! I knew the resulting drawing would be insane. I suppose this isn't really Fuzzy in a costume as much as it is Fuzzy as an actual chestburster alien. But I suppose Fuzzy is a big movie stoar, so maybe he can just afford a really convincing costume. (That Sam is probably animatronic.)

Jess and Dev as the Dirty Pair
I was happy to take this suggestion costume suggestion: Jess and Dev as the Dirty Pair! For those who don't know, Dirty Pair was a Japanese light novel series that got several classic anime adaptations. It was also adapted into a western comic series by Adam Warren, who later went on to make the comic Empowered! But as requested, I went with the more traditional anime outfits for the characters here.

I'm looking forward to making more inktober pieces based on your suggestions later this month!

Marvel Pets
Here's a trio of critters dressed as Wolverine, Cyclops, and Black Panther. These would be some dangerous friggin' pets! You'll find the full size photos of each one in the gallery above.

Dogs in the woods
I drew this piece for a good friend of mine, who was really fun of the mixed media photo comics I've done in the past. I really enjoy mixing nature photos and pet drawings like this. (I took the photo myself, right here in Vancouver!)

Sam and Baker
This process GIF shows how I generally approached making the art for my recent character profile series! As you can see, I put together the page layout with the background and text placement first, then drew the characters to fit in the space available. I thought it would be fun to depict Sam and Baker at the beach, since that's where they ended up at the end of the big story I did about them last year.

Inktober Gert Pin-ups
One thing I often have fun with during inktober season is drawing some pin-ups that I can creatively censor (by design) with real world objects. Here's a pair of Gert pieces from previous years where I did just that... one using paper cutouts, and one using the actual pens I used to draw it with.

I'd like to do something like this again this year, but I gotta think of a good censoring concept! Any suggestions?

Thanks, everyone! 'til next time.
