It's S&F Extra time! Here's a behind-the-scenes look at what I worked on last month.

In the gallery above, you'll find the final version of each piece, as well as some animated GIFs of how some of them came together.  And down here, I'll provide some info about each one!

Sweater Weather
So, why doesn't Trevor look anything like the toy he was named after?

When I was a kid, I always felt like Trevor should get to be a cartoon character, too, just like Fuzzy... but I didn't have any particular use for him. I made a couple of attempts over the years to find a role and personality for him, but nothing ever stuck.

Until Trevor's current incarnation, the closest he ever came to sticking around was in the "Christmas of Terror (And Fluffy Bunnies)" comic that I drew in 2000, two years before starting the S&F webcomic. (You can see a few pages in the gallery above, or read the whole thing here.) In that comic, I tried to cast Trevor as a crazy right-wing prepper. As for why he's grey... well, the Trevor toy is a lighter colour than the Fuzzy toy, but Fuzzy was already "white" in my black-and-white comics. So, I shaded Trevor in to make him look different.

Trevor's 2020 redesign can be explained by the exact same logic. He became darker, wider, fluffier, and smaller-browed just to give him a distinct appearance! In his debut story story, it was very important that he not look too similar to Fuzzy, because I wanted it to be clear he wasn't one of the Buddy Bots or some other kind of clone. After all... in the end it had to turn out that he was actually a mutant wombat with no connection to Fuzzy at all!

Anyhow, I guess you could say that in the end, the secret to finding a role for Trevor was to completely change almost everything about his character, personality and appearance. But hey... he kept the sweater!

Fuzzy Sonic
Look, I'm very sorry I made you look at this. But not sorry enough not to make it happen twice! I created this Fuzzy-esque edit of the horrible original Sonic movie design to use for the comic running on the Sam and Fuzzy site today. ENJOY. (There's a GIF transitioning between the original and my edit in the gallery.)

Oogna
I drew this for my pal Alina! It's a picture of their character Oogna, who they play on the D&D Twitch stream Trash Heroes. (The little corgi guy is my own character from my brief guest appearance on the show earlier this year.) You'll find a making-of GIF in the gallery!

Beakering Intensifies
Here's a recent comic I drew for social media science dogs Bunsen and Beaker! This was a ton of fun to draw. Beaker is a dog that's prone to getting hyper, so they requested a comic that showed her doing both science things and non-science things with INCREASING INTENSITY.

Kiss
Last but not least... here's a look at the surprise kiss that occurred in my current Saucy Hippo comic story! I'm quite happy with how this turned out. It had many pages of build up! (Or possibly many years of build up, depending on how you look at it!) You'll find a making-of GIF in the gallery -- I did a quick pencil sketch on paper first, then switched to digital for the full pencils and rest of the drawing.

Thanks, everyone!
