It's S&F Extra time! Here's a behind the scenes look at what I worked on last month.

In the gallery above, you'll find the final version of each piece, as well as some step-by-step animated process GIFs.  And own here, I'll provide some info about each piece!

Ghostbusters!
This piece has a lot of layers to it, which makes the process GIF especially long... haha! As you'll see, while the original line-art was drawn on paper, I added all the smoke completely digitally.

As a bonus, I also included an alternate version with alternate pinker lighting.

Game Boxes
It's true... I created this piece by taking an actual photo of actual game cases (with blank paper in them), and just photoshopping the artwork on top. I have a lot of practice with this technique, since I make my mock-up images for book kickstarters the same way... by photoshopping the artwork onto a photo of a blank white dummy book.

Generally speaking, I set the art layer to "multiply" - this lets the texture/shading of the box/book underneath come through. Then I copy the blank book/box cover, crank the levels MEGA high (so that everything is either white or black pixels) and run that on TOP of the art as a partly transparent "screen" layer - this recreates a little of the gloss/shininess of the physical object.

In the gallery, I also included the original stand alone art for each box.

Map
I posted one of these last year. Here's another one! This map was made for a ukulele education program. The students tick off the circles on the map to track their progress through the different units of the education program.

Lester the squirrel
Lester is a squirrel who lives in my parent's backyard. He's lived there for about 30 years, which is a nice way of saying there have probably been a lot of different Lesters.

Bunsen and Beaker
Here's another piece I drew for social media science dog Bunsen the Burmese Mountain Dog! This is his new official portrait, with his new partner Beaker. Beaker is growing up very fast... she is already bigger than I drew her here!

Star Trekkin'
This is a new commission I've been working on, mashing up the Sam & Fuzzy cast with the original Star Trek crew. I should be able to share the finished piece next month!

That's all for now, friends. See you next time!
