This explains the behavior so well! Im not sure if I prefer the predictability or the intended randomness. I kinda wish the matching game was more random, and the slot game was skill based, since from appearance that seems to be how its supposed to be..

I agree on both counts. As it was, SMB3 was so over-generous with lives that I would have definitely appreciated its bonuses being a bit harder to get, without being unfair.

I swear as a kid that I was able to win the roulette game pretty much 100% of the time, but clearly from the code I must have been deluding myself!
