You all remember that thing about Stineford being redesigned? That wasn't a whim I abandoned, just a project that's far on the backburner. Well, right now I'm tired and making less progress with Vhala than I'd like, so time for some mindless mapping.

The merchant district is done and now you can see the noble district above. I chose this section because it lets you see all the main institutions in their new forms. As I said before, I think this is won't have much impact overall, but I do hope that players will appreciate it.

Now, some good news and some bad news.

You remember those Indie Ink Awards I asked everyone to vote for? This week I was informed that I made finalist in both the categories I was nominated for, which is entirely thanks to your votes. The actual winners are determined by guest blogger judges, so that's basically a crapshoot - this is the level of success I hoped to attain, so thanks for your support!

I was going to complain about a pretty irritating event where I got harassed over at the Cognosticon Patreon, but right now it doesn't feel worth the time. Was frustrating and ate into my week, but ultimately not that big a deal.

Hopefully next week I will have a longer post discussing a lot of final details for the open world segment. Things are 99% on target, but with TLS that 1% is a bit of work.

Very sorry you had to deal with someone going ballistic over characters acting perfectly normal, especially if you were already feeling drained before it happened. I could say several unkind things about their general perspective on life, but I will refrain. What I will say is that your environmental work is excellent. The various stages of Yhilin are particularly amazing, but every city feels alive and lived in. It's very cool that you've been quietly working on a Stineford redesign. I have no complaints about Stineford's current design, but as the oldest city in the project, I can imagine you have a ton of tools you've developed over the years to really make it shine.

Nice. Out of curiosity, beyond the new Stineford and the obvious (your writings, Annikath's art, etc.), which elements of the game have been custom made for TLS?

That will depend on the definition of "custom made" - little you see above is brand new pixel art, just less common tiles and some elements put together to try to be more specific to the game. That's generally true: the more interesting maps probably have pixelbashed elements not found exactly in other games, but they're not completely unique. For truly custom elements... there are some sprites, faces, and tiles that were 100% new, but I couldn't pick them all out for you on short notice. Of course, the single most numerous custom element would be code. I use a variety of community scripts, but there are so many scripts and scriptlets made for TLS, either to add new features or to fix pieces of RPG Maker.
