Hello, everyone, it's time for TLS 0.70.0! Which is definitely the next version of TLS!

No, seriously, while I personally think it would be extremely funny to skip over version 69 without comment, I decided not to. Make all the "nice" jokes you want. =P I hope it's a nice update.

TLS 0.69.0

- New harem quest beginning in Theltiar.

- New plot quest beginning in a location revealed within this update.

- New harem quest beginning in base courtyard (contingent on the above plot quest).

- Penultimate harem member, the last before the secret optional member.

- Fully 12 (!) new sex scenes, two of them affection scenes.

- New illustrated scenes: Aka + Varia, Altina From Behind, Restoring Riala, Yarra + Qum + Nalili, and all 15 (!) of Lilith's Chaos scenes

I don't think this update will be too buggy, but background balance tweaks are extremely likely. I've been working on pieces of this over such a long period, I feel disconnected from some of them, and the release schedule didn't allow another round of testing. Hopefully everything is pretty decent, because I think this is quite a balanced chunk of content.

One thing I did run out of time on: consequence dialogue. I focused on changing the big stuff and adding brand new content around the world, but there are likely some random NPCs who should have changed dialogue. I will try to check more later, but feel free to report any for those who care about this.

It has been many, many updates since I've added so many sex scenes at once. It also includes the most variable sex scene in the game: it's only six paragraphs long, but each paragraph has multiple different variants, most of them entire rewrites. You will see why when you get there.

Lynine's Quest: I had in mind a version of this quest that was far more complicated and longer, but went with this instead. I feel that it's the best version of the quest for balancing out all the other endgame content. Maybe I will write that essay on quest design sometime.

Plot Quest: This is meant to be a moderate challenge, so easier than the Lake of Destiny or Yarra's Dungeon. Balance reports still welcome, I just ask hyper-optimized parties to keep in mind that this one is meant to be easier.

Orilise's Quest: The brand new mechanic/game. This was a joke planned years and years ago which may be dated now, but I think it's a good addition to TLS. It's meant to be a puzzle where you experiment and figure out all the connections between the different elements, with trial and error as a fundamental piece of the fun.

There is one scene this update that is unwritten, which I believe is a first for me. This is because it will involve use of art that doesn't exist yet, specifically because of the themes of that section. I hope everyone will feel this makes sense in the end.

This update represents a major step toward the end of the plot and involves a big decision. Sometimes I give players a carefully balanced choice meant to inspire analysis and debate... sometimes a choice is just a degree of freedom for its own sake.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys. ^-^

Technical report: 1. both the mother pin items (185 and 198) are identical in stats and status immunity, i don't think this right 2. Bottom right bed in hilstara room in goddess trainer it's unlock if Self-righteousness it's >= 7 i thin should be < 7 3. The spark unlocking the Observed Succubi switch (event coordinate 16,12) can be used with lust >= 1 but reduce lust by 3 without checking if the lust variable become negative and reset it if its the case. and i see in other place (eg yarra) you make that check 4. I think Lynine Scene in the Church should need to check if simon had recovered or not. because it isn't a requisite to start the quest itself

1) Yeah, I failed to get back to this, good catch. 2-3) Fixed, thanks. 4) Hmm, I think I'm going to make it requisite for the quest rather than block or justify the scenes.

EDIT: I wasn't going to leave a "nice" but I just noticed that I am actually the 69th comment so now I am legally obligated to say "nice." So... nice Ok, late to the party providing feedback for this one. Overall, I really liked the story beats provided in this one, and was surprised by the direction it took. I'll admit that I truly didn't expect recruiting Grynyth to be in the cards at all, but think it was executed pretty well. I thought it was clever that to truly get to Orilise's Request, you had to deny following through with Orilise's request. I think it does appropriately address Orilise's tendency to be one of the most vindictive team members in a growth-focused way. I'll admit when the music hit when first starting the Trainer section, I got a helluva flashback! Certainly a dated reference at this point, but it definitely hit me. I really don't like "trainer" games due to the fetishized cruelty and objectification, but I found the whole quest engaging, an interesting parody that fit Grynyth's extremely weird personality, and I just think having a stat for straight up "Racism" extremely funny! I did encounter some bugs that stopped me from finishing the quest without save editing. I was unable to get the Research + L switch to flip and was stuck on 8 Maximum Magic, thus preventing me from finishing the Riala events. I also have some criticism for the Heartwood section. The game assumes that you will defreat all the Mother's Guard at the Heartwood since there are conversations after each fight and when you get to the area boss, she explicitly says you have defeated all the Mother's Guard. However, at the beginning of the section, Simon says that we should work to avoid harming the Guard. While I now see this was referring to the nonlethal combat, the last time we were told to avoid harming the Mother's Guard was during the Erosian War, and the solution there was to avoid combat entirely in order to aid negotiations. I thought this was a callback to that and ran through the section while avoiding all roaming guards (which is definitely possible). If this isn't an expected way to play through the section, I would recommend revising the dialogue to make it more clear that fighting the Guard is an acceptable action. Other than that, with the revelation that Grynyth is one of the last harem members, this update did raise a question for me. Is there any more content planned for Ulrissa? So far, my interpretation of her character was as someone who appears to be (and thinks she is) a wise sage who is a more important part of the word than Simon or any of the others because of her centrist righteousness, but who ultimately is almost completely powerless, useless, and motivationless. The boons she offers are occasionally good, but not super worldshaking all things considered, she believed Tanurak was a primary threat when he was ultimately a sideshow, and then she didn't even really play any role in taking him down since Hester took care of that. She stayed inactive until all her advantages eroded and now she relies on the charity of someone she regularly disparages almost as much as Ginasta. I think from that perspective she is a rather fascinating character, but has so far not been explored very deeply or had any sort of growth or arc. Is there any more in store for her story or is this just all she is going to be?

Hello, glad to get your feedback just before the new build! Happy to hear you enjoyed this one. ^-^ Orilise's quest will hopefully be bug free in the .1 build. But yeah, seems like you took it in exactly the spirit I intended, particularly in regard to Orilise's tendencies. I've made the Mother's Guard harder to dodge, but I think you make a good point: I should tweak the dialogue so players aren't misled. Ulrissa doesn't have any major secrets or harem twists waiting in the wings. My primary goal with her character was to flesh out the Tower a little more, showing it as an aspect of the world that has some history instead of just being new dungeons for the party. She has a role to play, but I think you're right that she could get more characterization.
