There was a time when I was hoping to get the TLS update out today, but it became clear that wouldn't be possible. Instead, I think it's finally time to stop tinkering and just subject DStP to the acid test. The demo with the first two worlds is now available on Newgrounds:

If you've never played before, now would be a good chance. If you have a NG account and usually support my releases there, I'd appreciate your votes. Setting somewhat comparable conditions to my other games there would be good for evaluating the numbers.

I'm not sure what to expect, but I'll consider this a referendum on my direction for the game so far. Based on the overall response, I'll decide where to take this project. That would mean either trying to hammer out the core creative work this year or changing gears in 2020.

Anyway, back Sunday, hopefully with good news.

So..... what you're saying is Annah has barricaded herself in her room and refuses to come out till her sex scene gets a rewrite?

Honestly Annah would be funny, but personally I am hoping that it is Wendis making up for 3 decades of forced chastity. (Or Mestan finally wearing down Simon pesky hetero sexuality.)

I can't figure out what I am supposed to be doing with the coins in DSTP. If I hit the right arrow he grabs a coin and the counter increments, so I assume that is good. If I hit the up arrow he takes damage, which I gather is good, but it's not clear if I want him to earn coins or not; if I am opposed to him presumably I wouldn't want that, but the game text ("you have earned X coins") seems to suggest I want that?

OK, I think I get it. The premise is if you stop Runman you get the coins taken from his body. So the idea is to let him get as close as possible to the Princess and then kill him, so you get the max coins.

Yeah, it feels like a bit of a throwback, but I don't know of any other flash game style site that allows adult content.

acid test failed for me on Seamonkey/Firefox, running fine on Edge though. I feel like the difficulty in 1-7 rises suddenly, since before that you can just spam -> without consequences. Also I didn't understand how to fire that special. Guess I missed the introduction? *shrug* So while I think the story is fun, I guess the gameplay is not suiting my mental skills. But don't get discouraged by that, that's really a personal thing.

Thanks for the feedback! When you say it failed, what specifically happened - the game didn't load at all? The special is fired with Space when the meter is full.

Constantly spamming -> to deny Runman coins got pretty uncomfortable, to the point that I just stopped playing once my hand actively started to hurt (right after the first lever where Runman gets the 2nd health bar). The rest of the gameplay was fun, trying to set up strong damage combos could be cool, but it's hard to muster motivation to continue playing a game that was actively painful to interact with.

Finally managed to finish this game—I had better luck with the browser version in Newgrounds than the last Mac desktop version I tried. I love, love Princess Plum as a character and the story you're telling about her efforts to escape Runman and the Kingdom of Shoes. Her romance with Dragogai is cute and I love how even a simple story like this, you sneak in some world building. The game play is interesting, as I've not played an anti-runner before, though it wears on me after a while. I've noticed the current story to level ratio is about 2 levels for one scene of story. I'd probably prefer 1:1 - fewer levels to make an overall shorter game. I'm not sure I'd want to play terribly many worlds of the length of the two available in the demo, personally.

Thanks for leaving feedback! You're not the only person to strongly dislike the coin mechanic, but I haven't figured out what I want to do with it.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry to hear that the game element is basically a negative for you, but we'll see if we can't improve it for the final product.

Story was good, gameplay was pretty good, the coin collecting definitely caused some finger strain. If I could remap it to left-mouse or something it might feel better. I stopped part way through world 2, but I'd be tempted to try again in the next version. Probably too late in the process to reimagine this part, but to me it felt like it might be better with "launcher" upgrades instead of "rhythm" upgrades. Like instead of "slightly wider crit range" you might have "increase chance of this threat spawning". Stuff like that, where you can focus more on the traps you like, and create more organic combos.

Thanks for leaving feedback! Something along "launcher" lines isn't impossible - I actually had similar plans in my initial design document, but I wanted to do a basic proof of concept first.
