Status Update on v0.6 (Patreon)

Heya,

Just chiming in to tell you people what I've been up to.

For the most of the nine days since my last post, I've been revamping how the NPCs state machines are managed.

To be more accurate...:

Each cell in that table represent a state machine that control something of a character (speaking, moving, animation, facing, skinning... even when it eye blinks).

Well, the thing is that every one of them was a separate entity. So every time I changed anything in them, I needed to delete+copy+paste them for every NPC. And that was really time consuming.

Now, almost all of them are pointing to a template. An asset instead of a scene object, so now I only need to change the template and all NPCs get the modification automatically.

Again, the question would be: "Why you stupid fuck didn't do this before?!" And yeah, it would be a very valid question... but as I've told you before, I'm continually learning and using assets instead of pre-loaded scene objects is something that requires more knowledge than I had some time ago.

So, even if it took me days to make it right, I'm already saving time.

On the content side, I've just finished another Eri scene.

Just one, because as I mentioned before we'll be trying to diversify new content as much as possible from now on. No more monographic NPC updates.

We're aiming to release before January ends. That means 0.6 will probably feel smaller than other updates. However, we feel we should launch more frequently for many reasons. Maintaining interest in the game is one of them, but also it is my current state of mind...

I don't want to whine too much and there is nothing you guys can do, but serious shit is happening in RL. I'm faced with the most important decision of my life and there is no 'best' option. Somebody will get hurt regardless of what I decide.

So, having a shorter time frame between updates could help me a little at dealing with the pressure, as I expect you won't have the same expectations as if three full months pass. Well, that's what I think anyway. I might be mistaken, but let's try for now.
