LOK Rebirth v0.1 (pre-release beta) [Win]


[Abelius]: So...

This is a buggy pre-release of v0.1, so play it at your own discretion. I'm launching this now, so the ones of you that want to help me finding issues could do it.

If you don't want to run the risk of spoiling any bit of fun, wait for the public release in some days from now.

To the best of my knowledge, I've squashed most game-breaking and annoying bugs, but some aesthetic issues remain. There are some that I'll try to address before v0.1 public beta (if not many new bugs come up), but others will need to wait until v0.2.

Types of issues I'm more interested in knowing of...:

- Game-breaking bugs: those that prevent you from continue playing.

- Annoying bugs: those that shouldn't be happening, but you can continue playing and progressing through the story.

- Performance issues: if you have poor frame rates playing this game, send me your rig specs and describe your issue. Far better would be to capture a video... ^_^

- Plot inconsistencies: if some dialogue/event seems *off*, that is, if the player character knows information she shouldn't at a given point (not if you think some NPC *should* behave or speak in some specific way).

- Aesthetic defects: I mean graphical ones, and only as long as they're objective. For example, a background that has some part missing, NOT if you would have liked Krys' boobs bigger, rounder, pointing upwards, lactating, etc, etc... ;-P

The preferred methods of reporting bugs are, ordered by personal preference...:

1st.: #pre-release_bug_reports Discord server channel. Here you could attach screenshots and that... would be awesome! ^_^

2nd.: A direct Patreon message to us (not so good).

3rd.: A comment in this post... but Patreon comments sucks, you know it.

4th.: A post in our thread in LoK forums, but please use [spoiler] tags to avoid people seeing too much of the game they'll play in shortly.

To sum up, mind other fans before posting any early info on the game on a public channel, please.

Oh, and for that very reason... please, do not leak this release. ;-)

If this version goes public before its time, it will hurt the project. We don't care much about "piracy" but we do care about quality. And this one is prone to give an improper first impression, okay...?

And now let's see if we'd lived to the hype or not... most probably you'll be expecting much more content after six months, but truth is that most of my time has been spent in building the engine.

Anyway, work continues...


Current known issues:

  • After the execution of some examine actions (just two, atm), the cursor could get stuck into an hourglass icon preventing any interaction. Press ESC twice to unlock it.
  • The music engine doesn't work properly in all instances. Cross-fading could stop the source track abruptly instead of fading it out. In some instances, after loading a savegame, the music won't resume.
  • If you start a conversation, before an examine action's text is cleared out, Krys' speak animation continues to play regardless if it's her turn to talk inside the conversation or not.
