So now we know why Igneel couldn't defeat END, its not that he was physically unable, he just refused to kill a child, even if said child was a demon from the books of Zeref. Instead he took Natsu in and raised him as his own, now it makes sense why Natsu has no memory of anything prior to being adopted by Igneel.
