If I remember correctly that Chicken Restaurant is actually a real place in Japan, also this is one of the rare cases of an Anime being released without having any Manga come out beforehand. Also I believe it was also the owner at that time of the Chicken franchise(?) (I can’t think of the right phrase right now) that voiced the local owner and gave them Tshirts as payment.

Correct, it didn't have a manga before it came out and it was so good that the guy they hired to write the manga said "if you don't plan on making a season 2, my answer is no I will not write the manga, because I love this"
