There was an elephant named Topsy that was electrocuted in a public execution, but there's debate on whether or not Edison was actually apart of it. He wasn't present at the execution, but the electricians who flipped the switch were from a company that had his name, and a crew from Edison Manufacturing filmed it and credited him on it, but he also has thousands of other videos that are credited to him that he was never apart of lol 10 years before the elephant incident, Edison was trying to spread propaganda that AC current was more dangerous than DC current, and he actually did capture stray animals and use AC to electrocute them in front of journalists in order to demonstrate it. So everyone has just assumed the elephant thing was also one of his stunts due to him being credited (which is possible), but since he hadn't argued AC vs DC for 10 years up to that point, it has never been confirmed if it actually was one of his "experiments". History lessons!
