This one is a placeholder for chapter 167. 

It's highly unlikely that I'll have surgery scheduled for this month, so I should finally be able to catch up on these chapters I owe you.

Your doctors must have a different definition for "urgent" than most of us. If they were indeed dealing with your situation as "urgent," they'd have you in for surgery within a week or two. But yet you say that your surgery is unlikely to be scheduled this month? Yeah, that's not "urgent," that's "it can wait."

The NHS has many problems, but waiting on truly urgent surgery isn't one of them. Tefler's problem sounds like a chronic, recurrent issue, which can be kept safe with medication until surgery. If you're truly putting forward the notion that "socialized medicine" causes horribly unnecessary suffering, maybe pull out a mirror and look at the almost endless suffering caused by the lack of any health care at all for a significant portion of the US population. There's a reason that the US has such high levels of child mortality and low life expectancy compared to other first world nations. As for medical tourism, 200,000 people travel to the US for health care every year, while 1.5 million US citizens travel elsewhere because they can't afford the treatment at home.

So now we're up to placeholders for a complete 164, 165, 166, and 167. God I wish I could put money away that easily. So at Tefs typical pace we now have placeholders through November. Almost seems like he's trying to dig his hole deeper than last year.

Tef can you set yourself a hard deadline of the middle of the month to have a chapter out? If you did this it would only take 4 months to catch up. I might be wrong but the way it looks is that you only work 1-2 days at the end of the month to produce something so that you can put another charge out. Surely if you put an expectation that you will have something out mid month and end of month that would help both yourself to produce and keep your loyal supports happy that you’re trying to catch up.

You only seem to listen to a few people that tell you only what you want to hear, that it’s ok and we’ll continue to support you. These same people also tell others if they’re not happy, to stop supporting you. If I had people telling my clients that, I’d be pissed! They’ll keep telling you you’re ok right as you drive this right off a cliff. They’re even helping to create the cliff. You’ve pissed off the vast majority of your supporters. I don’t say this to have a crack at you but to try to warn you of the aforementioned cliff. Please please take stock of what you’re doing and fix it and maybe accept some of the offers of help to turn it around before it’s too late. I’d really like to read the end of this story and the sequel and that’s not gonna happen if you lose half your support base and can no longer do it.

I run a successful business and could help not only with communication but also with ideas to increase your level of support in a way that people would be happy to pay for. And if you don’t like me that’s fine, please just accept someone’s help to do this. And not one of the yes people because they’re not gonna give you the help you need. Someone who is happy with where it’s at isn’t going to be able to change it for the better. You need someone who’s not actually happy with what you’re doing to help change it and hopefully help change the general perception you’ve created. I’ve read comments where people no longer care about your personal situation and what’s been going on in your life which should tell you how bad it’s gotten. I’m actually happy about this, for the first time in months. I got what I suggested: charge us for a half chapter, which is about the size of an old chapter anyway. Happy to pay twice a month for this to happen.

So this makes it 4. 4 months behind at the rate it’s going. Soon it’ll be 5. Don’t lie to us Tefler, there’s no way you’re catching up anytime soon. For you to catch up and be on schedule by the end of this month, you’d need to release 5 chapters in the next 26 days. A chapter every 5 days when you’ve been releasing one every two months? Come now, we’re not that stupid.

I’m not one to complain and honestly don’t mind the slower pace this year too much, I get it, things happen. I don’t get however why every post from Tef is either “I’ll finish this part post up soon” or “I should be able to catch-up this month” when he never posts before the last day of the month, which means either he’s not posting as soon as they are ready as he claims or doesn’t finish a single chapter until the final day, in which case of course he isn’t going to catch up…

Been daydreaming about TSM being a blockbuster movie series akin to the Marvel Universe. I'm trying to picture in my head all the main actors and actresses that would play the main rolls. IMO the two best actors to play John would be Alan Ritchson or Chris Hemsworth. I'm leaning more toward Alan Ritchson here, simply because he doesn't have the Marvel baggage attached to his likeness. Also I'm seeing Charles Harris being played by Tom Selleck, but he might be a bit long in the tooth. Love to hear your thoughts on the girls and my choice of leading man.

Perhaps you could get a few like James Doohan who could do multiple parts/voices, ... ---- Anyway, those are a few of my thoughts, take them as you will, ... ;-) ttfn

If you’re referring to the fact that he’s never going to catch up and is just making sure he’s getting paid at least once a month while putting out 6-8 chapters per year instead of 12.. then yeah. I guess I’m slow for thinking that’ll ever change. For now, I’m just going to switch to $1/month tier with a limit of 1 per month. It’s not like I care about the money, but I do not trust Tefler here to not just post 10 placeholders in a row someday. He’s certainly proving he’s not exactly trustworthy.

Ok, I admit that I did not see the need for an Abandoned Matriarch. It will definitely be necessary, though, with that many recruits. Plus the idea of a Gray becoming a Lioness is very intriguing. Would she completely change shape to become nearly identical to the other girls, or would she retain some of her uniqueness? If she DID change to be shaped like the rest of the girls, she would definitely be worshipped back home :)

Tef - you’ve been on 1/2 chapter a month pace all year. But to avoid falling behind further you’ve got to ramp up to delivering the 95% of Ch. 164 that’s left. Going from 50% of one chapter to 95% is a big jump in productivity. When you’re in fighting form you can do that but surgery ahead of you suggests you are not. So forget about catching up. Just try to deliver 164. Statistically you would be expected to only deliver half of Ch 164 this month, promise to deliver the rest by end of August, precharging for 168, not delivering anything in August if you have surgery and precharging for 169, and finally delivering the second half of 164 on September 30th when you precharge for 170. Delivering all of 164 this month will require a herculean effort in your condition and I will be among those that recognize that awesome effort. Hope you’re feeling better!

Back in chapter 158 when Alyssa found the issue with the wormhole generator she said it would only take a few minutes for Dana to fix the schematics and it would only take making a few new parts. John also said he wanted it fixed “ASAP”. It’s now six chapters later. Did they decide they like nausea?

Tef must fulfill his obligations; his placeholders are un-approved promissory notes. Patrons were taken from without permission. Some will stay, for loyalty. Some will stay, for sunk-cost fallacy. Some patrons will lower per-post subscription amount. I did. Tef should worry about (% of loyal patrons VS. % of sunk-cost patrons ).

You guys don’t seem to get it. It’s great that you’re happy and supportive but ripping people that have had enough is doing Tef a massive disservice. A LOT of his support base is unhappy (with good reason) and every time you are happily farewelling people, he loses money. You’re standing on the deck of a sinking ship encouraging people to stop helping and bail and what? If the ship sinks you’re gonna be happy and say I was loyal and went down with it? It’s not about the money, it’s never been about the money. I don’t think anyway here is bemoaning a couple of bucks. It’s the principle. People don’t like having no choice in being pre charged and then not only not get it, but get no updates. Time after time after time after time. Tefs word has become worthless. Most people want to keep supporting him but can’t seem to get his attention that they’re not happy with what he’s done. The fact he has ANY supporters left shows what a great story he’s written and I think everyone wants to see its conclusion. And nobody is going to get that if he loses so much fan base he can’t support himself this way anymore.

Before Tefler turned off the amount of money he is making per chapter, It was around $8,500.00. So 4 place holders is around $34,000.00. THIS IS MY POINT!!!!!!!!! My wife went through a similar experience to Tefler. She had an operation and acquired an infection which had to be cleared up. Instead of being in hospital for a few days, she was there for three months. Her convalescence took almost two years before she was functioning at a pre-operation level. During this time, there were periods when she was extremely tirred and washed out, and everything became a big chore. I am not suggesting that the cases are identical, nor am I seeking pity for her situation. We were lucky: we did not have the death of a father to deal with as well. Rather, I repectfully suggest that those who balk over a few dollars a month put themselves in Tefler's shoes. He has not disclosed his full medical history nor what else is ging on in his life, nor should he. People should be patient and understanding. I am confident that the episodes will continue, and that he will catch up eventually. Until then, I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. I am confident that Tefler will continue to churn out chapters when he is able to do. Until then, I urge people to stop being impatient and lacking in understanding.

For all the apologists who keep trying to say it's "just a hard time"... August 2021 was the last month that ended with Tefler caught up. Ever since then, he's been living in pre-charge land. That's 22 solid months of the exact same excuse... things took longer than expected, the story is complex, I'll get caught up this month... and 22 solid months of that being a bunch of bullshit. Sep '21 - Jul '22, Tefler was typically half a chapter to a full chapter behind. Aug '22 - Mar '23, Tefler was typically two chapters behind. Tefler has been at least three chapters behind for the last three months. This isn't improving, this is a steady patter of Tefler slowly taking more and more advantage of community good will. This isn't getting fixed any time soon. There's only been once in the last twelve months where Tefler produced two or more chapters. This isn't an attack on the story, this isn't hopes that Tefler fails. This is me shining a light on the actual recorded history of how the last three years have been going, which anyone supporter can see for themselves simply by looking at posts by month. This is me trying to raise a warning sign to Tefler. He has got to fix this. If he thinks this isn't having a negative impact on the financial support he receives, he just needs to look at earnings over the last few years, which have been trending down. This is me telling the apologists that they need to stop just trying to dismiss everyone's concerns. All that does is drive people away faster. It does not help Tefler in any way to see people like Michael56Smith. If he mistakenly believes blind loyalty and support is going to stay while he continues to get further and further behind, then there will be the reckoning of Tefler burning out all remaining good will in the community, and Tefler no longer being able to financially support himself through his writings. I want this story to continue, but this trend is the largest threat to its continued existence.

Alright, with the end of the month fast approaching and no word from Tefler, I'm going to go ahead and advise everyone here to expect more of what has been going on for awhile: a maybe finished chapter and another pre-charge. Because really, why expect anything different at this point? Now for the other part of this advisory notice: if you don't want to be pre-charged again, go ahead and cancel your subscription now before the end of the month deadline for Patreon billing. You won't be charged for this month if you do. Come back after the new year, maybe Tefler will have caught up with the chapters he's already charged for by then. Or, if you're really lucky, he'll have snapped the death spiral he's in and have actually gotten back on schedule, getting ahead of what we've already paid for. If that turns out to be the case, if you return after the new year, you'll have access to chapters you hadn't paid for, making them free. That's it for my advisory notice. Carry on.

.224: oh wow, ... a Cyber-Faye Matriarch for AI's, ... that would be Awesome, ... but first Faye and Irillith will need to restore a big chunk of Mael's computer and AI lore, so that they can 'create' more 'neato' AIs, both the Nexus model and the perky purple holo-pixie version, ... --- and Faye will be so very proud of her cyber-daughter, Daphne, .... --- So Perhaps they'll build a few more (really cute) AIs based on the 'Little One' model? .... they would be like Daphne's sisters and cousins, calling Faye their Auntie, ... --- thus, we have the beginnings of Faye's wide-spread digital family, ... Lots of useful AI's, ... ;-) ttfn
