Shinee 😭 My joy and heart. The group that got me into kpop in 2008. I love this album so much. I have had it on repeat since it came out.

Moonlight

don't worry I get what you mean & I had a feeling this would happen tbh the album is very feel-good vibes & have fun. they do have 2 other songs like the vibes you want from (kind) lyrics & the more personal emotions for the repackage they are called ( Area and day & years), Minho wrote Area himself too and Days and years is a song for fans so it's very personal as well. they did say they wanted to make a feel-good album where any song in it would have a choreo and an mv so it's very spring/summer songs. they did perform almost all the songs in the album at their concert along with live band it was cool as for your early question about the difference between sounds of exo & shinee, exo have darker & bit more sexy side & more RnB sound while SHINee sound is more into their harmonization and vocals together, there is a famous korean music critic who answered the same question about each sm group like that and it's true like they don't really have a specific sound I can describe, but really it's about how they sing it. About SHINee too is that they do stick to a theme/concept/sound regarding the album sometimes they sometimes do that with solos as well

I almost did send you a dm to tell you the album is more about having fun & feeling good vibes to prepare you because I knew it would be like that considering the lyrics is just about love & having fun, but I got embarrassed and didn't send you anything lol. like who commented before me mentioned the intention for this album was to have fun & be like "hey we are back after enlistment hiatus & before another brief hiatus" so they decided to have songs they just want to perform and feel it fit together. They do have 2 other songs with personal meaning like Kind for their repackage album called Area & day n years, Area lyrics alone is a lot, very personal song & days n years is very personal as well, but less heavy than area I highly recommend both since you listened and liked kind Honestly, the difference between sm groups or at least exo and shinee is exo have more sex*al vibes for a lot of songs & darker edge to many of their songs in terms of sound and while shinee earlier albums had a lot of rnb shinee sound was always in how they sing the songs I can't explain, but like exo they have rnb but it is very different & like nct they do experiment with their sound, but again it has their distinctive sound, they do use electronics a lot tho while exo have more rnb now I would say that. also I don't know if that will make sense but some songs that were meant for shinee (composers are who mentioned they made these songs with shinee in mind) that they didn't take & it went to other groups were nct127-supermhuman, exo-lucky ones & love me right, wayv-electric hearts & superm- 2fast & step up would explain what vibes or sound they have

I just really dig Shinee's tracks with House leanings, so most of this album was not for me. The last two songs were my faves.

This Is a beautiful album for those who like SHINee sound, except for Don't call me. This is pop. There are many songs that repeat non stop things like "How you like that," which have tens of millions of fans. Compared to those, this is really sophisticated. And guys, love is not the same as sex, passion, appreciation, empathy, etc. BTW Taemin's songs are also relationship songs. The only difference is that he distorts them to represent his search for identify (the relationship with himself), a phase that precedes the establishment of intimate relationships.

KpopPrince

Ah you should have messaged me it's all good haha. I honestly go into every video or song WANTING to like it, but I'm not ever going to lie when I'm not feeling it. Who knows, it could literally just be the mood I'm in tonight or how I've been feeling this year, ect. Sometimes music needs to speak to you at the right time. Now that you mention it, Superhuman 100% has the DNA of a SHINee song.

I just felt embarrassed. yeah songs and music, in general, depending on the timing and the mood you have while listening like since last month and for some reason, while I usually like songs with sad lyrics the most, at the moment I just skip any song like that because currently not feeling things like that not just in kpop so yeah I get you and it's fine really don't worry

Juuls

aaah damn! i wish you would’ve listened to the repackage! like someone mentioned earlier, days and years & area are on there, and they are my favourite songs on the album!! (with body rhythm because that just slaps) - but yeah, area actually is a favourite bside of 2021 for me

conflicted??? unsubscribing, no im joking but i can respect it even tho i love this album so much

Wheeinthe_moodz

My favourite SHINee albums are the misconceptions series. Those are amazing.

Luna

Oh I really thought you would’ve liked the album/songs. I am feeling the emotions in the songs just fine but I understand that you weren’t in the mood for love and relationships related lyrics and I guess you wanted sad or sentimental lyrics possibly which makes sense you only liked kind and it’s okay so don’t be bothered by that As for the other question I see ppl before me answered well, shinee sound is more about their singing and how they make it their own style regardless of the genre while exo is more darker sound I would say and they have a good number of lyrics connected to their lore/storyline & a lot of RnB genre wise To explain shinee albums solos and group : some of their albums are more conceptual than others, but they do a good diverse of different concepts overall per album As a group they usually do like to fit a certain sound/genre/aesthetic per album in a cohesive way, like for example earlier albums were a mix of RnB & electronica and these albums were more about teenage-hood with the process of a teen becoming an adult; misconceptions albums in 2013 it was related to dreams & nightmares, “odd” album in 2015 is very summer jams albums, about odd things in general mainly in relationships, 1of1 album is late 80’s early 90’s retro album that is a homepage to music that influenced their style. The albums that came since 2018 were more about their identity and themselves personally sound wise, so the story of light album (10th anniversary album) like I said about their identity in different ways; most recent Atlantis or don’t call me album is like how they themselves explained a collection of old sounds they have done before in revisited way and new sound explored further and in a way to go against what the public expected from them to release after finishing military service Solo wise they do get more personal I would say because they show their personal colors/style especially sound wise, but even in their solo music they still have the shinee sound in a way Lastly I want to say that even if a lot of the songs for solos & group is more romantic lyrics wise it still follows what they want to express their personality and tell stories. I personally think songs love related is just as personal/has emotions as any other lyrics Well this turned into an essay but yeah hope I explained well their albums

I think one thing that you need to kinda understand is that SHINee doesn't have a "thing" that they do or a "genre" they genuinely just make all kinds of music and projects that they feel and relate too. They have heartwrenching ballads and R&B songs they have baby making music and romantic happy go lucky music they even have very creepy almost horror like songs. And If you go into an album its truly best to not expect a certain style or sound just because they are from SM. SHINee was and is an Experimental group and was created for that purpose. Under SM SHINee and F(x) are basically the only Groups whose concept is to NOT have a concept. If someone can switch it up its definitely SHINee. I appreciate the reaction but I feel like next time maybe keep that in mind and also what kind of mood you're in. (Plus I think that its also a bit hard for SHINee to Release super sad or heavy songs right now because non fans still exploit their emotions toward Jonghyun and they have talked about this too.)

just saw this comment and it's very true. they did mention that they knew the public & nonfans expected a specific type of songs they would release (to play it safe like most after military comebacks) and they know how they are very analyzed in sort of way which is like how they decided to go against because they aren't predictable plus in the story of light album they decided to release good evening & I want you first before our page for reasons like to not get their personal feeling used by media and nonfans and like one of the comments mentioned they did say they revisited old sounds they did before in dcm album, don't call me as a song was a call back to rdd & lucifer, atlantis was a call back to view & heart-attack was a call back to mttm even in their solo albums after 2017 and angsty sad love songs they have released gotten twisted by nonfans to make it seem about something else and how looking for clues, it sucks really

Oro The Nymph

Just wanted to add that after the heart-breaking, gut wrenching beauty that is The Story of Light, I'm not at all surprised that Atlantis is full of lighter bops. TSOL is a work of genius, a game of two halves wherein it can be listened to as an album of love songs, or as a complex, emotional expression of longing and melancholy and deep, deep love for Jonghyun. I know of lot of shawols can't listen to it, but for me, it's one of their best albums.

2022-12-04 15:32:45 watched the discussion on discord last night that you mentioned this in briefly & wanted to see it myself. I honestly feel confused even more now because your reasoning for not liking this album are very surface level & I don't like assuming but it felt like you had this preconceived idea based on what they have been through that their music possibly gonna be sad or tragic and you got disappointed when that didn't happen not finding the songs personal or saying it lacks emotions is very weird too because they express emotions just fine in the album & emotions aren't limited to heartbreak & sadness what's more confusing is I have seen you liking similar type of songs before but from other groups so I don't get how in this case the album feel emotionless & unpersonal All I'm gonna say that artists not just them don't need to write their life story in songs & aren't obligated to sing sad songs to make people feel emotions because sadness isn't the only emotion and I don't think song lyrics has to "relatable" to able to enjoy them Sorry if this all comes aggressive not my intention I'm just super confused

Sometimes it comes down to what you're in the mood for at the time. When I listened to this it reeeeaaally didn't hit with me at all. From my recollection everything just seemed fine, it didn't stand out. That could've just been because I wasn't vibing with this type of music at the time. I did listen to this in Winter I believe, where I'm not exactly looking for upbeat music about love for the most part. It honestly could've just been the wrong time 🤷. I'll have to give it another try.
