Hm, I think Patreon ate my initial comment when I tweaked it with an edit. Apologies if this ends up being a double post! I'll try to recreate it here-- This really is a fascinating and introspective series! Dia's little speech on dieting in the industry really stood out, not only for her wry attitude towards its necessity, but also the fact that AllArt would dare include such material in this videos at all. Come to that, it's amazing to me how much PixyTV feels like it was put together with care by a third party-- as if the company gave an empathetic film crew the keys to the studio (and the manager's car in Ella's episode, haha) and access to as much as the members themselves wished to share. One thing I've seen on their channel in this style is the ~11 minute behind-the-scenes video of their showcase for Wings. It doesn't go as deep (probably by necessity) but it does include talking head interviews and focuses more on illustrating their *experiences* of (re)debuting rather than only trying to entertain the viewer. (https://youtu.be/kE5wpowFtDQ) Seeing Dia speaking with the choreographer in her video about the future was on my mind this week, since Pixy headlined the nighttime concert portion of a big cultural/music festival in Shillong, India. I'd love to see the PixyTV-style docuseries on all the first involved here-- first international trip, first true live set (for what looks like thousands of eager new fans, amazingly), and of course first time dealing with all the stresses that go along with that. Not least in a the pandemic environment, and after having debuted under (of course, justifiably) severe restrictions all year. Thanks for keeping up with this series! I think you mentioned in the previous PixyTV reaction that Korea in the rain was something magnetic for you, so I'll leave this POV walking video from a Korean youtuber here-- just strolling in Ilsan in the rain. Sometimes it's all the bgm I need while working at the ol' desk: https://youtu.be/PR516WiXDgQ [Oh, and definitely [verb] the Yankees. This Cubs fan has mixed feelings on the Mets, but we can agree on our common Bronxside enemy]

I really hope you're right about artists being portrayed as more grounded and real in the future. I keep saying it, but any content where my favorite "idols" just get to be human for a little bit always stays with me for a long time. The super-scripted stuff can be fun for the duration of the clip, but after that I don't tend to think about it all that much. Something else that I think we're already seeing more of is groups that don't necessarily cater to the Korean market but still succeed because of a strong international fanbase. Dreamcatcher is a great example of that, and PIXY looks to be heading in the same direction. I guess LOONA's also kind of been that way until fairly recently? I think the companies are picking up on the fact that it's becoming possible to rely on non-Korean income. It really is nice to see how thoughtful and aware all the members are in this group. They seem so willing and excited to try new things. I can never take my eyes off Dia, and Dajeong has a lovely breathy tone and a lot of vocal power for someone so young. They also mentioned in a recent interview that they've been inspired by Dreamcatcher's performances, which is just an awesome bar to reach for. There isn't that much else beyond PIXY TV right now unfortunately, but they do have MV behinds which are always fun.

PIXY TV episodes for the India trip would be phenomenal. I really hope we get some kind of behind the scenes content from it at the very least. 😁

I really do wish more groups did content like this, I love this series so much. I was also taken aback by how honest the girls were in these episodes, it's so refreshing to see. And it's one of the reasons why I have a good feeling about this company - they must've done a great job at creating an environment where the girls feel comfortable enough to talk about things so earnestly like this. Really hope they do more documentary-style videos like this in the future. I'll also never understand how these young idols balance work with school, it seems like so much to manage. Also for idols who choose to do university degrees, it must be so intense. It's really nice to see that Dajeong was enjoying her school-life here though, those clips were so heartwarming. Looking forward to the next episodes 🙂

It really does shed light on a lot of internal stuff that the third party thing seems so plausible. I've enjoyed how honest everything feels. And yes, there are few things I enjoy in life more than rainy days! It's all so calming, thanks for the video

The Temptation album is what made me a fan of PIXY. This video series is what made me ult them. Normally when I get into a new group, there's a period of a few weeks where I'm struggling just to learn the members' names and put names to faces, let alone get to know their personalities. After spending an afternoon watching this series, I felt like I knew this group's members better than I know the members of a lot of groups that I've been following for a long time. As you said, the honesty and openness is really refreshing. You very rarely get to see kpop idols being so candid, and as far as I've seen it's practically unheard of for trainees/rookies.

That's what makes me very excited for their future releases. This is giving me so much insight into each member on the level of groups I've known for a year.

I was thinking about idols that debut at a young age right when you brought it up too. after school I went home and ate pizza and watched TV with my friends.. I mean during senior year sometimes we just skipped school and stayed home watching mtv and eating junk food the drive of these trainees is amazing. hopefully that desire to perform and make art is as organic as it appears, especially with the young ones. As a side note, p1harmony jongseob and soul were 15 at their debut last year wheeew (jongseob 14 international age).

Treasure members did online school and mostly went for test they all go to that school somi and itzy and most idols go too before Covid they went in person learning more but after it’s online except test which means at night time or mornings they do school work then go to practice so kinda like home school plus they probably have tutors since they’re idols but idk about that for sure also not sure how work hours work for minors since they are technically there voluntarily and all live together so it’s up to them I’d assume what they want to do after mandatory lessons are over but that’s yg I don’t know younger trainees from smaller companies

Dia basically did everything in the first 2 MVs and their first album. she sang about as much as Ella, she was center, and she also rapped. They kind of gave her a nerf lol, and made her main dancer and lead vocalist. Which makes sense, it is hard to have 3 rappers in a group.

lol i knew you were going to bring up Loona members dropping out of school, it is still hilarious to me that Jinsoul who is so ditzy is the only Loona member with a college degree.
