yay! glad you enjoyed the performances. the final superband results were (1) hoppipolla, (2) lucy, (3) purple rain, (4) mone. i will keep requesting superband performances, you'll get there eventually. superband 2 just started airing with a pre-episode about the producers this week. i love that you love hong isaac's voice as much as i do. he sounds so different to anyone i've ever heard (the closest comparison i can make is florence welch). btw, he's credited for lyrics on all the songs on lucy's new album. apparently wonsang (lucy bassist) called benji (mone violinist) to help with their english lines, but he was in california half-awake so he called isaac instead.

Like Beks, I'll be requesting more Superband performances for you. You have seriously just scratched the surface of that show. I know you've liked what you have seen, but the most mind-blowing performances are ahead of you. I say that as a crusty old live sound engineer, musician, and entertainment lawyer who is bored with everything. When I say something is "mind blowing," I really mean it. Now you know the pain of the Moné fans, except that we saw this band come together, do these fun performances, lose, and know that we will never see them perform together again. (Or will we...). That show was a roller coaster for me. Issac Hong is performing as a solo artist with a band. He just did an "I'm Live" performance a few months back that I haven't really watched, but it's in my queue. Finally, don't apologize for thinking strategically about your channel and being smart about your time. I'm an entertainment lawyer, and I have YT creators as clients. It's hard to get them to think strategically about growing their channel. We _want_ you to grow your channel; that's why we support you. Watching these performances is fun for us. We want it to be fun for you. I should point out that very few reactors focus on Kbands. I think you are the first reactor I follow to actually watch a Superband performance, much less understand what is happening. I like idol groups, but the YT landscape has enough people loving them. If you devoted some time to Korean musicians, we've got some content for you and it could be a useful niche. And besides Superband, there's another show called Begin Again that will interest you.

OMGEEEE, yes, Begin Again is sooooo AWESOME like @Robert said, the lineup is insane too, from Suhyun to Henry, Taeyeon, Kim Feel, Jukjae, Crush, Lee Hi, and these are just a couple off the top of my head. There were bigger legends in previous seasons and more in the ones that followed too, would love to see the reaction to all that!

ahhsjskdj i pledged to your patreon just for this! about a year ago i discovered kbands through The Rose and since then i couldn’t stop! idk there’s something about the way kbands are able to portray emotions through their playing and singing that’s hard to do when you’re dancing at the same time (don’t get me wrong, i love idol groups but i have such a soft spot for kbands). i binged all (i could) of superband since i couldn’t find a place to watch the rest of the show with english subs and it was a CULTURAL RESET! so sad people don’t know of the show but i’m SO happy you’re doing this! so excited to see more and recommend some of my fav kband content for you :)

Yesssss, agree with @Robert and @hi , please please do Begin Again. This show is so refreshing, like many of them doing live band performance on some random place. Sometimes moving the audience to tears

I love AuRoRa so much, I will never be over the fact it was not a title track. At least we have the live version I guess. I am so glad you got to see it! I also agree, I have a thing for Kanghyun songs, they are always my favourites out of the bunch, I don't know what it is. I love N.Flying sound, and totally agree on the pop-punk early 2000 sound, it makes me so nostalgic. I am so mad we don't have subs for Superband, jtbc what are you doing. The show was so popular in Korea, and I really wanted to watch it, but with subs out until ep 4 I can't bring myself to start. I loved the mone, that was talent and showmanship all in one, that is my kind of performance!

Fana Shafeeq

Superband was super popular in Korea, i'm mad they don't have english subs even now :/ But yeah the final rankings were 1. Hoppipolla, 2. Lucy, 3. Purple Rain and 4. Moné ! All of these bands are amazing :) One thing I wish turned out differently though is the follow-up success of the groups after the show, what I mean is that the show was very popular among Korean GP but I feel like not many followed through with some of the groups after the show ended.. Like have you seen the views on Lucy's music videos? Feels like a crime lol :')

Luna

I'm glad that you enjoyed the performances

Another thing I really think putting all live performances requests together is really good way to take less time & to go through requests quickly. I would say if a group/artist got more than one request they would get their own video is a really great idea too & the groups/artists who get one request only they would be put in a big video together. that way you able to go through all requests faster with less time

I saw Isaac first on HIDDEN SINGER and his performance there is legendary too, his sooooo talented! Such a charmer!!!!

KpopPrince

I was going to say, none of those groups are remotely popular. Maybe if they actually subbed it to advertise to international fans. Dumb move

KpopPrince

Yup that's the plan! For example, putting Purple Kiss and Mamamoo together makes sense to me.

The OG_SG

Loved this! Combining several reactions into one longer video works really well. Plus, getting to listen to some of my faves all together is wonderful. Can never get enough N. Flying, ONEWE and Superband content. Especially glad you're checking out more Superband performances. Moné had another performance that I really loved (the English title is listed as To Be Decided). Not the same energy as the 2 you reacted to here, but it really highlights the vocals of Woosung & Isaac. Also, I recommend listening to the 2 tracks Isaac & Woosung/The Rose did for the Strangers from Hell OST called Ruin (Isaac's) and Strangers (The Rose's). Big departure from their normal sound, but I think you'd really dig them.

The charisma all of these performers in the super band performances ooze is insane!!!

imma start watching superband as soon as i'm done with my finals!

Moonlight

1) these performances are very nice 2) Combining several reactions into one longer video is really a great idea not just for requests, but maybe for future comeback stages as well, like instead of taking time to look & film each comeback stage on its own I feel reducing that to one or two big videos each month would work better and would give you more space regarding filming other things 3) I would suggest live stages also like you did here in one big video as well and as for youtube requests I guess it will depend if a group was requested more than once or not, and if it's more than one then the group or the artist get their own video while groups with one request be combined in one big video or two to reduce time

The Trauma and AuRoRa performances are from ONEWE's Studio:We Live #6 online concert from January. It was a two-day concert, having two different themes for each day (light and acoustic for the 1st day, dark and more heavy-sounding music for the 2nd). Hearing AuRoRa for the first time during this concert was an amazing experience. ㅠㅠ Before the tracklist was released, WEVEs were actually hoping it would be the title track but I understand why they went with Rain To Be, it's super catchy and might be more GP-friendly. Kanghyun is the main lyricist and composer of Rain To Be, with CyA writing his raps. Kanghyun also wrote Cosmos, the last track in Planet Nine: Alter Ego, which is my favorite from the entire album along with AuRoRa. You're definitely not alone, Kanghyun's songs vibe with a lot of people. Every single contestant in Superband is just IMMENSELY talented. What made me love this show was that it never felt like a competition but rather a gathering of incredible musicians of different musical backgrounds and a showcase of the wonderful music they can make together. Can't wait for you to see more of these Superband performances! I might request some in the future too like Beks and Robert! :) Also, I enjoy seeing you gush over Isaac. His voice is really one of a kind. I'm loving this themed compilation of reactions. Glad to know it makes things easier for you and it's a great way for us to discover new content as well!

Steph M

Well this was an awesome torrent of content to come home to after work, I really like this new format! I'm glad that it seems to be working for both us and you 🙂

Cat R

Okay so first thing, I love the new format of putting all requests in one video! Personally I love longer videos and it's fun to see your emotional journey as you go from song to song or band to band because each one definitely has their own style and flavor xD Second, since no one has mentioned this, in East Asia like Japan and Korea, the crowds tend to be "dead" or more still, not much jumping or screaming in the middle of performances and that's due to the culture in those countries. Firstly, being reserved in public settings is a big part of the culture at least in Japan, i've seen it's somewhat similar in Korea though maybe not as strict/intense. Also, it's seen as a sign of respect that you sit and take in the performance as a piece of art. Interrupting the performance/band while they're singing by screaming or jumping around is seen as disrespectful because you're there to see them perform and hear their songs live not to hear the person next to you scream your ears deaf or see the people in front of you jumping around blocking your view. This is a big reason why fan chants are a thing too, they give you a designated place to scream that won't disrupt the performance but instead, add to it. In other countries ofc they experience different crowds because there's no way American audiences will sit still and silent but I think the artists enjoy all types of crowds and enjoy the different concert culture's they come across~

Robert Arthur

Beks, did you say something about coordinating our Superband request on Discord? Is there a Discord server for KpopPrince? I think others may want to request Superband also, and we should make sure we don't duplicate.

Yes, K-bands! I am loving this format where I could indulge with different bands. I love them all but I feel so happy whenever you watch N.Flying live performances, it just leaves a smile on your face. These gents' energy are superb - from the vocalists up to the instrumentalists! Hoping to see you react to more live performances.

2021-08-02 06:22:08 I'm one of those people who love AuRoRa wholeheartedly. It's an amazing song. (And maybe I mentioned before, AuRoRa and Cosmos >>>>>, but the whole album, is fantastic!) And it's so great that we can feel who wrote each song, Kanghyun, CyA and Yonghoon has their own individual style and vibe. So far Kanghyun's compositions are the closest to my heart, this man is a genius. I really enjoyed this format, k-bands rise! (Also wow, I need to find more Superband performances. I follow Lucy, and know a few Hoppipolla tracks, but that's all.)

I think I love your reactions so much because it sounds we have very similar experiences and tastes growing up. Whenever you mention concerts and the musicians you grew up listening to it's like "yup, this is me." Superband was so damn good. N.Flying's lives are always so much fun. And agreed, the crowds are so quiet...I think it's a mixture between being broadcast and also, culture. I went to a concert in Korea and it was fairly chill but not in a bad way like you could tell they were enjoying it...just very different from what I'm used to.
