I think you had a point about the song, I think it's a bit more nuanced than just "telling off the haters". Sometimes people who think they're trying to help can do just as much damage because they just don't understand that everyone needs to follow their own path in life and be their true selves to find their own brand of happiness. I know it's corny but whenever I think about this kind of subject I remember one of my favourite lyrics from an older Sarah McLachlan song, she says in the chorus of Elsewhere; "I believe this is heaven to no one else but me"

2021-08-02 06:31:45 you are right the song isn't just about the haters, it's also about ppl who not just gave empty/bad advice & ppl who make comments that aren't needed/damaging comments. taemin did say he requested the lyrics specifically about that & after someone made comment to him telling him that something along the lines "that his music is weird that he should try to make music like popular trendy artists instead" which made taemin very upset by that comment and this song is like a response to that plus other "comments" that are very insulting & damaging in general

2021-08-02 06:31:43 He writes/wrote some of his own songs lyrics & composes sometimes and he does request song lyrics himself a lot of times he would choose the subject for a song himself (criminal & idea & advice lyrics were made upon his personal request) and what he wants to convey and request a song about that, the lyricist of criminal said that. he is also like shinee they have much creative freedom when it comes to their music in general, they choose who to work with not just in terms of music but in choreography as well, taemin himself works on many of his solo songs he adds & adjusts choreos (shinee do adjust and have a say in their choreos as well) and he even choreographed some of his songs choreos as well
