Happy New Year everybody! I'm back from a Christmas break with friends and family, so it's time for the New Year Patroncast!

Given your Classics degree and seemingly excellent knowledge of the ancient world, have you ever considered doing any videos where you talk about the real history of ancient Greece/Rome and their exploits? I don't know exactly how that would work, maybe it could be done using Rome: Total War to showcase it or something, its just that as a bit of a history nerd with a gap in their knowledge when it comes to the that period, I find it absolutely fascinating when you talk about it in other videos such as Total War and Ryse

How surprised are you about the success of Total War on your channel as a full series?

Hi Jon! If you think people getting angry over using a controller for overwatch is bad, look at the "tonewood" debate on electric guitar making! It's insane!

Jon! Play one of the modern Shadowrun games! I'm very surprised that you haven't. Honestly, it feels like those games are right up your alley. Turn based combat requiring careful planning and skill, a variety of skills that effect conversation and combat, and engaging stories with fleshed out characters, none of which are voiced (Something that you could add).

Hello there! First time posting here. I discovered your channel about a year ago and it's brought me great enjoyment! Definitely helped me get through many a long nights stuck in the lab. I wish I knew of your Patreon page earlier. Thanks for all your great work! I had a couple of questions for you. Are you ever planning on revisiting Rimworld? Your one-off video on it made me go out and buy it and it's a fantastic game! I'd be curious to see what you'd be able to make out of it in a longer game. Also, if you are planning on sticking to the Total War success and if you like Lord of the Rings, have you considered doing a series of Medieval II: Total War with the Third Age mod? It's pretty well made and it's a pretty fun setting! Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Have you been watching the newer time commanders series? if so, what is your opinion of it? As a huge total war fan I almost can't watch as they are all so bad at the game.

Ha, good to hear that you like the Thursday Next series. I discovered them many years ago in a local library (actually volume 2 in a German translation). The next (no pun intended) volume I read was number 4, because somehow those were the only ones stocked there. When may English got better I got all the original editions, but I always found it very fitting how I got started with the series considering its non-linear arc. Jasper Fforde is a real genius, no doubt about it.
